Transducer connector plug

Not seen the connector before but am guessing its some sort of junior timer connector as used for injectors and ecu sensors. If so you can get them from www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk/
Just got a call back from Caerbont and they can't supply the other side to the plug. They did tell me it was a Sumitomo connector.
Yes, it is the 3 inch long brass sensor that tells the speedo that the wheels are going around. It sits on a bracket by the diff (basket of a place to work in).

Do you mean this one? (that was the one that fitted the sensor on my GKN at the front - but was originally glued in place!)

Changing the darn thing hasn't worked so I thought I would try testing it last night. Tookl it out againand made sure the end was clean, put it as close as I could see was possible, tuerned the wheel and nothing. I set the voltmeter to 20V setting but no reading whatsoever.
Does this mean I've got a dud un?
Also the sensor does not locate at the highest point on the curve - it sits below this making it difficult to get it that close as the rotating wheel catches on the top of the sensor.
I assume the actaul sensor is just the metal part in the centre?
Getting a bit jacked off with the whole speedo thing now.
Also posted in Griff forum but I guess these are fairly standard across Griff/Chim/Cerb's of that era.

Not necessarily. The bible (page249) says the only way to check properly is to use an oscilloscope so you can see the pulses within the waveform. A multimeter may detect the swings but as it averages the voltage reading it may just cancel them out and you'll think the sensor is faulty.

The plug? socket shouldn't be an issue. IIRC there are only 2 wires and plenty of slack so you coud use any sort of weatherpoof connectors.

Just to add to this the 2 lights (orange and red) on the bottom of the speedo unit do not light up at all so maybe I've got a major feed problem.
Also the temp guage has started to drop off and the fans come on at 80 whereas a few days ago the temp sat between 80 and 90 and the fans kicked in at just under 90.

Anyone know which is the earth is the connector block behind the dash. Assume it is the one that bolts to the rear case of the speedo.
Also, I've menaged to get the other half of the sensor connector (or should have within a day or so) which I know won't make it work but it will make it easier to change in the future.

I've finally got the Speedo to work. I got the plug pits fromn Sumitomo and made it up but it didn't work, so I have tried 2 other speedo's (which were working), a seperate earth (which i took form the centre console and can now use for anything behind the dash so all not in vain), adjusted the transducer closer and closer but no joy. Now works - it was the new connector I put ion and the one wire had bnot clicked in and had come out. As I had done the job, taped it all up and placcy tied it out the way I never thought to go back to this as I thought it was job done. Lessen to be learnt here. I have also chipped a piece of veneer out of the dash due to taking it out so many times.

Pleased to hear you got it working at long last!!
Interesting..........I had a suspect transponder in my Chim and got a replacement from the factory. It came with new pins, connectors, plug and socket - the full kit. Gave it to Leven to fit and it worked perfectly. Speedo was miles out though but that's another story..........
