Hello newbie here.
I’ve just bought a chimaera 5lt due to have it delivered.
Although I’m new to tvr ownership had a few performance cars before. I decided to get one after driving my mates new ish Morgan 3wheeler. I wanted to drive a car again rather than have everything done for me. Hence an analog car in a digital world.
I have got to insure it, so am I best to join an owners club? If so whom? I apologise for the following question as I’m sure it’s been asked a million times but who is generally recommended for insurance?
Thanks again

Congratulations on your purchase.....
Clubs: Blackpool Thunder Newish club setup, I understand, buy some folks dissatisfied by the bureaucracy of the "official" club which is The TVR CC I think both are recognised by insurers that give discounts.
Insurance I've been with Footman James for a few years as they've been one of the cheapest and are apparently ok to deal with should things go wrong. But in my 1st year of ownership classic line where cheapest by some margin. Most wanted to know if you've owned something similar and didn't count modern stuff of similar or greater power. TVR's have a high % of single car involved accidents.
Enjoy the car and my top tips to a new owner are check the age of your tyres and the condition of your fuel lines.

Congrats on the new car. I've recently got my first TVR too (Tuscan).I’ve just bought a chimaera 5lt due to have it delivered.

I was looking at day use insurance to drive it home not the day of purchase, and all the prices were north of £100. Ended up going on the meerkat site and got a full year's insurance for £371 with 1st Central.
Obvious pricing is different for everyone, and this is a basic policy with no agreed value/trackdays/etc... but even though I have no NCD for the Tuscan it was still cheaper than my Volvo V40 (19 years NCD) and my Mitsu L200 pick-up truck (7 years NCD)!

The comparison sites do classics now.
Wow - that's a new one on me! I've always found the Meerkat chappie to be the best of the comparison websites for my 'day to day' cars. Worth making several calls to the specialists in Classic Car Insurance, but don't be surprised if some of them wont touch a TVR (even for a 61 year old with full NCD!). The best quote I got, was to add my Tuscan onto onto my 'day to day' car policy with LV? Most of us have given up trying to understand Car Insurance pricing
Mannings is another insurance company.
Join the club, it's got a great magazine with lots of adverts for all the right people. Also when you come to insure it - you may need a valuation. Mervyn does these for free for club members. My insurers wanted to charge £45 to look at my photos/documentation

Welcome to TVRs.
I have used Classic Lines Insurance for my TVRs. Most of the specialist insurers were pretty well matched in terms of pricing, but look at what extras you get for track day cover if that is important, and also breakdown cover.
If you are based in the West Midlands as your profile suggests, Central TVR have a good reputation.
Please post some photos and details of the car
