tvr in germany?

hi everyone, i'm new to this and wanted to pick the brains of the assembled masses if that's ok. i'm a brit living in germany and i'm quite keen on getting a tuscan mk1 (all the pitiful budget of a young army officer will afford!) but i'm concerned about servicing and such over here in europe. does anyone know of the tvr setup over here and if so what sort of thing can i expect? what are the servicing intervals like? any help would be much appreciated.

A Tuscan V6 or a V8? Or do you really mean a Tuscan from 2000+ ?

Servicing every 6000 miles or one year. Main dealer nearest you is in Hagen near Dortmund. TVR Finance will finance you, if you have a good credit rating and are on the electroal role back home. Astrid at Culpeck on JHQ use to arrange specialist insurance. If not Naafi for f&i.

There are a hand full dealers in Germany and Swiss, but!!!

I'm not so sure if you can get a UK Tuscan street legal in German.

I live in Austria, (will move to Ireland for two years, starting next mounth) and have strong plans of taking a TVR back home with me. However, it is not that easy. PreCat Models are not allowed, and the AJP Engiens do not get premission over here in Austria - could be the same in German.

I'm forced to look for a Chimaera or Griffith from between 1996 and 1998.


You really should contact the car club and ask for advice.

Different rules in this situation as a memeber of HM Forces working in germany the car only has to have a BFG (British Forces Germany) test things like LHD headlights and a few other minor details to get a german plate and be legal.

for those in Germany, I'll be at The 'Ring on wed/thu next week in the Griff Challenger.

We'll be at Dijon/Magny-Cours earlier and it seemed rude not to put another lap or two on the meter on the way home.

any TVR buffs around (its evening sessions) on those dates will be welcome. We'll be staying at either the Am Tiergarten or the 'Ring house.

wow! what a fantastic response from everyone. thank you very much. i'll be following up the various names and contacting the people who know the people.

mel is right about forces cars in germany. they have to have conti lights (easy to swap lenses over on xenons) but they do test for emissions. if your car doesn't pass a british forces germany (BFG) inspection your insurance is invalid so it'sdefinitely something i'll make sure of before i commit.
