Hi, booked track day Goodwood 6th August :-)

Was going to change brake pads anyway, thought I would upgrade whilst at it.

Any recommendations? Mk 1 Tuscan - but Iguess same as Sag, T350 etc

This track day is (probably) the only track work it will do in the next few years, so needs to be good for mostly road use.

I did look back, but feel free to point me to an existing thread

Thanks muchly

Great for track, once warmed up (take first few corners carefully), but i wonder if for road use you will ever get enough heat in them, try EBC Yellowstuff -good for road and track.

I had these on my 4.5 Tamora, they were slightly better than standard pads on the road but when warm were fantastic, no fade

Thanks for all replies '

I am hearing Ferrodo DS2500 should also be considered

Mintex 1144 or 1155 would be my preference.

I would have a long hard think about brake fluid if you're going to be putting extra heat into the braking system.

Only ever used the ds2500s because I like them a lot on the road. They need a little heat in them and the disc to really anchor you when pushing on, but in normal driving they're progressive and feelsome.

Pedal started going soft on track after 3 or 4 laps, I'm not experienced enough to say whether it was the pads or fluid though frown .Prior to that they gave good confidence, but I'd guess not as much outright stopping performance as a more focused pad.

That’s fluid.

1144or 55 with SRF or similar and the pedal won’t feel any difference all day.

I wouldn't go 1144's. I had these on my Cerbera, great for road use but easily cooked them and warped my disks at Castle Coombe.
I've gone CL pads, no problem on daily use and never had a problem with fade on trackdays

As said above, make sure your brake fluid is fresh, and preferably high temp dot 4.
I changed to CL pads on my Chimaera a few years ago just before a track day, but didn't change the fluid.

3/4 of a lap was all it took for the pedal to go from 100% to 0%, and I had a spin at 120 mph when I couldn't make the corner.
Fortunately it was an airfield track day and fortunately I lost the brakes on the turn onto the main runway, so nothing to hit.
The cause was boiled brake fluid.

Changed the pads back to the old ones, changed the underwear/trousers for the spare set, and all was well again

Unusual combination cooked pads and warped discs? Seems the pads were working hard enough to warp vented discs. 1144 work fine in my race car.

^^^^^^^^^^^

I have used Ferodo DS2500 for track, sprints and all road work for the past 7 years on my old 5.5 chim with Tuscan brakes.

Always, always reliable, stopped perfectly even after 30 minutes of hard work on track.

Another vote here for CL pads, plus Brummie isnt that bad a bloke to deal with smile

I`ve had them on my AJP Griff, Sagaris and now on my Corvette, brilliant all round use, and greatly decrease your stopping distance.
