I have managed to remove the gearbox and left the bell housing attached to the block. Couple of numpty questions for those in the know:
1 Do I have to remove the bell housing to get the slave cylinder out?
2 Whats going on with the flexi pipe connection (feed) to the slave cylinder. It looks and feels as if the nut attaching to the slave is fixed to the pipe, ie you have to turn the nut and pipe to undo it which you cant do because the 90 degree bend fouls on the bell housing. Is this right or do I have to man up and force it to undo it? It doesn’t feel or look right to me.

Remove the bellhousing .. you could take the slave out using a puller, but cleaning and inspection of sealing surfaces is much easier with the bellhousing out and on the bench. The slave will knock out from the inside of the bellhousing with a mallet and a piece of wood. Top tip .. place a rag over the bellhousing fluid port and push the slave fully in to start with otherwise the first hit of the mallet will quickly push the slave fully home and squirt brake fluid everywhere if you're not careful.

The entry pipe nut rotates independently of the 90 degree bend, yours is just a bit stuck that's all .. it will move relative to the bend. Make sure the nut is turning and that you're not in fact turning the whole adaptor into the bellhousing ..

When refitting the new slave make sure the ports are aligned top and bottom otherwise it won't bleed all the air out. Use rubber lube to aid fitting. Go slow and steady and you will be fine. It's not a technical job, just needs a bit of care.
