Can someone please explain to me why most of the acknolodgments whilst driving my 95 Griff come from drivers of older models. Several times now I have flashed or waved at cerbies and chimps and had no responce. Surely a quick responce cant cost anything. After all if it is something to do with the cars being newer than mine, your car will one day be old and out dated when the streets are filled with tamoras and tuscans and possibly a few speed 12''s. Special thanks to all pre griff model drivers, Its nice to see you on the road. Im amazed by this attitude. All of the cars came from the same place after all. Any thoughts anyone. Im not after an arguement just a viewpoint. Thanks.

I always acknowledge another TVR regardless of its age - it's part of the ownership isn't it? And I will still acknowledge all TVRs when my new Tuscan arrives in September. Happy motoring

Agreed - I always wave to any TVR I see - but I sometimes crack my hand on the Ally window stanchion!! If not waving, I'm hooting flashing my lights, grinning etc!!

I ALWAYS wave to other TVRs when in my Chim....unless it would be dangerous to take my hands of the wheel at the time. I've got into such a habit that I sometimes forget which car I am driving and wave anyway. To the guy in the silver Chim in Fort William last Christmas - when the Rental Fiat Punto driver waved at you he wasn't bonkers - just temporarily automotively challenged! (The wife practically fell out of the car laughing...) Interestingly Porsche drivers rarely wave to one another - but it does happen occasionally. Edited by Don on Thursday 12th July 10:34

I always do the same, but i do find that the Cerbie drivers are the worst, well the wannabee city boys in their brand new Tuscans are as bad aswell, but they dont count as they wont be on the road for long due to lack of driving intellengence!! OOO get me a saucer of milk!! Nah seriously i always wave or lights on, and realistically 90% i get back, i even got stopped at the lights by a fellow chim driver who bollocked me for not having my roof down on a dry day!!

I also wave, flash lights etc.. and TVRs when I spot `em, and almost all of them wave back. Sure you should get moaned at for keeping the roof on.. What the hell is the point in having a convertible if you leave it on when the weather is nice Edited by Jason F on Thursday 12th July 12:13

Most Griff/Chimaera/Tuscan drivers seem to wave, but I've certainly noticed that Cerbera drivers don't bother as much. I got totally blanked by a Chimaera driver at the Eastbound A3 services nearly Ripley on Tuesday. There was a serious rainstorm that evening which made the A3 look like a lake and we were both filling up - he just seemed to gaze right through me. If you're on the list - wake up. I even said hi when we passed coming/going to cashier and he didn't even 'see' me. 'twas one of those 'not sure which dark blue' colour M/N reg'd 4.0L. Trefor (Cosmos Blue Chimaera).

Is it just me, but has anyone noticed that the MX5/MGF brigade hardly ever put their roof down. TVR drivers seem to be somewhat keener - could be something to do with the generally crap demist & ventilation we have to contend with! Certainly easier to see through the windscreen on a winters day with the roof off.

I generally (9 times out of 10) get a wave back. Like others here I sometimes forget which car I'm in and wave when in the Golf, and I know others do this as I've had fiestas and bimmers flash me. (or maybe thats my driving) What colour is your Griff Saturn, I'll make a particular effort to wave if I see you

I wave at any TVRs I see when I'm in mine and invariably they wave back. When I was new to my Griff the first wave I got was from a brand new Tuscan.

I wave / flash all TVRs when I'm in the S3 and find older TVRs, Griffs and most Chims respond - other S series always respond - but Cerbs and Tuscans don't. I travel through Henley to work (don't get me started) and find that 90% of the time I get blanked - they must all work for HH or be non enthusiast owners. I've even stopped for petrol in Henley next to a Chim / Tuscan, said hi and still been ignored.

I always wave/flash lights at another TVR (provided I see it in time - opposite carriageways of the M40 is a bit tricky!), sometimes get a response, sometimes not. Have been ignored plenty in Warks/Glos. Always ridiculously pleased when I do get a response! By the way, if you see me with the roof up when it's sunny, it's because the forecast is dodgy or for parking security and i'm by myself that day - ashamed to admit I can't refit it on my own!!

I've recently gone from Elise ownership to Chimaera and already I've been flashed by other TVR's! Griff's, Chimps and Cerbera's. There's a similar discussion happening on the Elise bbs (on british-cars). And there's also one going on about getting your roof off and how Z3/MX5/MFG owners always seem to have their roofs up!

You what... it couldn't be simpler... stick the front into the slot in the windscreen surround, pop the back up and press home the struts. The panel should be self-supporting once it is located in the front slot. So, no excuses now then Rich...
