Mileage... what’s on yours?
Discussion
My ‘98 Chimara is now getting close to 54k miles... that’s an average of less than 2.4K miles a year... owned now 11 years had 32.5k when I bought the old girl.. so in my safekeeping I’ve averaged around 2k a year. She doesn’t get banged up over the winter though, I just don’t get out much
What about you guys?

The '95 Chimaera (400hc) is on 81,000 miles, having had an engine rebuild at approx 79,000.
The '00 Tuscan (Mk1 4.0) on 64,000 miles, having had a Powers rebuild at approx 56,000.
Have probably done less than 150 miles across both cars since end of October, due to a combination of the lockdowns and a particularly wet and muddy winter. Longest trip has been to Str8six for the Tuscan 12k service over Christmas

My old 350i 1989 is at 114,000, on original engine and still runs like a dream with good oil pressure.
Current 390SE 1986 with original John Eales engine now at 65,000 again fantastic oil pressure and all well.
Current 450 SEAC 1989 again original engine now at 63,000 miles and all good.
Got to love an old fashioned V8........

2000 year 450 Chim bought some 10 or is it 11 years ago on 38,000 miles
Now close to 78,000 miles so just about 40,000 miles in that time. Loved every mile too,
Almost two years off the road now but this last year has been a write off!
At 48,000 I had a Powers rebuild (which was not strictly necessary)which I still love to this day it’s so balanced.

- When I bought my Tasmin it had about 70,000km on it, I sold it with over 425,000km. (I later saw it advertised for sale with much lower mileage of around 40,000km quoted!)
- I bought my 350i FHC in December 1999 with roughly 80,000km on it, and it has around 345,000km now.
- My Griffith had 32,000km when I bought it around ten years ago, it is coming up on 73,000km now.
- My Chimaera (in miles) had about 40,000 when I bought it, and now has about 42,000, so only a bit over three thousand kilometres under my ownership.
So about 663,000km travelled over the years in my TVRs, or just over 410,000 miles if you prefer.
Still a long way to go!

That's really impressive mileage, I presume they were your only cars?
Not my "only", but certainly years that TVRs were my primary, or should I say "practical" cars. There was a period that my Tasmin was the daily driven year round , sun, rain, or snow here in Canada. At the time I also had a 1961 Vauxhall Victor, and my wife had a 1966 Porsche 912, both stored safely during the foul weather.

Currently on 290,000 miles in my T350t, though that has taken 15 years.
Prior to that 50k+ in Chimera 4l, 60k in Chimera 5L and 54k in a Tuscan mk1 Red Rose.
For 20 years a TVR was my only car but I did relent a few years ago and bought a little Suzuki (car) for London/M25 mileage (that is approaching 200,000miles now too!). So 454,000+ TVR miles (725,000km) so far.
But 290k in a modern 350 is surely less of a feat than big mielage in a 350 wedge...
Hmm, maybe all 350s should aim for 350,000m.......Watch this space
Amazing mileage guys my 21.5k miles in 11 years is clearly somewhat pathetic by comparison
That said the ten years to 2019 I was offshore half the year, that stopped in March last year and now working part time from home, having retired from offshore working... can’t see the miles piling up any time soon though
I’d go from three down to two cars if I could, I need the estate for carting stuff about, but going down to two would mean selling either the TVR or the Aston, and I’m currently incapable of letting either go

98 Chim with 4.6 and a few upgrades with 240,000 miles
Congratulations! A chim with more miles than mine :-)blaze_away said:
Its like a badge of honour, yours is impressive number too. I don't see the point in them sitting around doing a few miles plus an MoT run each year. Built to be driven so drive em I say.
Hear hear. My Tusk 2001 has done over 150k. Built to my spec, full engine rebuild from Powers, new chassis, various gearbox bits replaced. Only done 2k in the last year. Ho hum.Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
