An 8 hour TVR journey

We're off oooop norf, to newcastle tomorrow, which is 7-8 hours away. The obvious choice was the Cerb because it'll be fun, but 8 hours of driving a TVR must take a fair bit of concentration. Anyone else done long hauls in their P&J?

I do 2x4hr journeys a week and it's brilliant.
However, I don't have a sports exhaust (for that reason) and I travel A roads.

Just do it, it'll be great

4.5 hours is as far as I've gone. After getting out the Cerb at the other end wife says "My ears are ringing!" That was the only down side!
I seem to get more to the gallon on long runs also!
Up from around 225 per tank to 300

How about 1,075 miles in 25 hours none stop, apart from petrol, tolls and caffeine in my Cerbera Speed Six travelling from The Alps to Warwickshire (hopefully an article in Augusts TVR Sprint will tell you more). I find the Cerbera is an easy car to do high mileage in. I also haven't got a sports exhaust, but when I'm in The Alps I wish I did. You'll love it!

We've done loads of long trips, in both my old Chimaera and my T350 - it simply is not a problem. TVRs actually go better the more you drive them too.

8 hrs in the S no problem at all - most comfortable car I've ever driven

I drove from Le Mans back to Newcastle via Dunkirque and Lancaster in one (long) day with the roof off and i still love the TVR. And i'm sure many others their did a similar trip.

If the trips for pleasure, take the TVR.

It wouldn't have been any more comfortable in anything else. I love my Griff, its sooooo comfy!

I've done Rome to London in a Cerb 4.5 with only fuel stops, no problems!!! (well except the aircon packed up again! lol)

Averaging 40mph. Must try harder.

I did Leeds - South Coast last year in my old wedge and loved the journey. Much easier to stay alert than in a tintop eurobox too.

? Why is it tiring?
I make the run from Kent upto Blackpool in the 4.3 Griff quite regularly and it is never an issue. I have no radio in my car, so only the engine to listen to and Im usually driving at night. Ive never found it tiring yet. Why would it be tiring in a Cerby?

Drove up to Aberdeen last year for a long weekend loved the drive so much will be going again soon, hopefully for a week.

I always find a saloon more tiring on a run

Just hoping an 8 hour stretch isnt going to leave me 'exhausted' The longest ive ever been behind the wheel of any car is only a couple of hours. Im not saying a cerby would be more tiring than your average car, I wouldnt know.

I recall reading that TVR's required more concentration than your average cars, and my concentration levels arnt exactly fantastic.

Ive been driving less than a year my friend, if Id had a lifetime or even a few years in which to explore the country I'd have done so.

drove to St fraimbault last week, 6am in cambridge until 7pm in france and i still went for another drive after we got there, depite roof down and sports exhaust.
Tiring but fantastic!
