I got an email today regarding TVR Parts. Make of this what you will. frown :

Update

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, dealing with the impact of Covid-19, and we thank all of our customers for their support. We remain dedicated to providing the best quality and largest range of parts for TVR cars as well as to ongoing product development, but we have unfortunately been unable to agree the terms of a new licence with TVR. This means that going forwards there will be a couple of changes - we will no longer be able to label the parts as "Genuine" and our company name will change to Racing Green Parts. Everything else will stay the same and we will continue to supply and increase our stock of authentic TVR car parts. With over 15 years of experience working with TVRs, firstly as dealers and, since 2014, as the licensed supplier of parts, we remain dedicated to serving TVR owners. With over 250,000 parts already in stock we can confidently claim to offer the best service available in helping you keep your cars on the road!
We hope that you wish to continue to receive emails from us but should you wish to opt out please inform us through the link in the footer below. We are requested to pass on all customer details to TVR but will not do this without first obtaining your consent which we will do in due course by separate email.

On the website, a short statement:

Sounds like they could not agree the level of the licencing fee. TVR will have to make their own, or agree a licence fee with someone else to make "genuine" parts, otherwise TVR have just removed their nose to spite their......

What does "genuine" mean anyway? No one at the current TVR was involved with the past models, and so how can they judge whether the parts are to the original factory standard, and even if they could and did, was the original factory standard any good? There are plenty of people on here seeking and even making upgraded parts who might say that the original standard was rubbish!

Great company, great service. Name change won’t make any difference to me, I shall still use them. Shows how pathetic TVR Newco are.

Totally agree about TVR Parts, it’s them and the likes of Powers Performance that keep mine on the road. We need to support them guys!

How do you define "genuine" parts when a car is a "bitsa" even straight out of the factory.

TVR themselves probably didn't know what parts they were going to use on any given day or car anyway smile

Yep, I got that email too. As said before me, I'll still be using them, they keep my TVR on the road. Shame about the licensing agreement but it all comes down to money at the end of the day.

Let's hope 2021 is a brighter year for TVR Newco and that we really see something concrete this time.

I think we have more chance of getting a wk off the Pope than seeing a new car now, unless it’s electric

This truly shows just how poorly the Welch TVR business understand the loyal Blackpool TVR folk. Ask yourself, given the choice, who would you trust to supply acceptable quality parts? TVR Parts or some tt who has spent many years pretending to be the TVR company director. Welch TVR should be paying TVR Parts for enabling badge loyalty, without them there would be fewer of us

Well my theory is that Les has got a lot of deposits to pay back and tried to jack the license fee too high. biggrin

They wanted to shaft Dom @ Power and it looks like they've failed to shaft Racing Green , Leven/Prestige Performance saw the light and I think "their network " is set for collapse . If THEY think this is the way to win over hearts and minds of TVR owners I think THEY have failed in a big way .. But no doubt the TVRCC committee will continue to suck up for their own personal creditability.

Now if only their communication with international buyers was better... it's like pulling teeth, if they answer at all.

Interesting they didn't continue with the official license. I would've thought it was in TVRs interests to keep them on since they were kinda the go-to "official" supplier (by name at least).

I can't imagine RG are losing any sleep over this at all .. it's win win for them ..

They already have the halo-effect link of having been the official TVR parts outlet up until this point, and all the owners know that.

They already have an established and presumably mostly loyal customer base.

They no longer have to pay an ongoing license fee.

They have all the links to manufacturers and parts suppliers at home and overseas. (hopefully any sole distribution rights are with RG not Newco, or alternatives can be set up)

Newco appear to have shafted RG and therefore with the British public loving an underdog our sympathies are with RG not Newco.

result is RG come out on top and Newco end up looking foolish.

So in the future a Google search for TVR Parts will presumably take you to newco? Racing Green and Powers etc will still be listed but will newco actually have any parts?

I've bought from Racetech in the past. It was always worth a comparison, and there's ACT Performance for other stuff like exhausts and wheels:

You’d assume they are going to link up with another Tvr independent but who.

This is terribly sad really.

Add up the number of cars that still exist it’s not a huge amount.
This is a small cottage industry to a large extent, owners want someone within travelling distance so it makes sense smaller businesses can offer these services at competitive rates, the fact some of these companies have been working independently to have spares available off the shelf for years has nothing to do with TVR.
I agree Racing Green should trade off there own good name again exactly as the likes of Powers do who have been freed up from years of paying royalties to Ruskies and now newco which is ok if they had produced something worthy of the name but they have not.
What we do know is the likes of Racing Green Powers Performance Kits and Classics Track and Road Matt Smith Bespoke LLoyds and many others have been producing great things in small garages and those are the ones we should stay loyal too. It’s a small club we are in and like everything a fight for survival so do we really need newco. Do they bring a big financial package, I think the idea is we bring them one. It’s dead money in my eyes as they never developed anything new for us old school owners, the owners of these small businesses have been doing that alone for years anyway.
Good luck guys as my car has been easy to replace everything over the years and I only had to call a handful of companies if that.
It’s made it so much more fun knowing people and working with them to enable me to own a great car,, Newco had nothing to do with it other than to take a cut from the bits I got from TVR Parts which after all these years of silence and poor communication over the new car I actually resent somewhat.
Abject failure comes to mind.

Agree ^^^^

So the part I bought from TVR Parts this week is a 'genuine' part - it says so on the packet. Next week it will come in a plain wrapper and not be 'genuine'..... rolleyes
