Miserable day, I know let's sort some items on the chimaera.....

So drivers window switch being intermittent, ordered new switch. Plug n play really done it before.

Tested switch all okay, disconected arm rest unplugged both window plus aircon switches. set switch overnight. this morning reconnected and nothing. Everything else electrical working okay, so started to experiment with spare switch.

Well this is the outcome - Windows work but only when switch fitted upside down ie wrong way to both connectors AND only when dipped lights switched on !!!

Now I'm okay with a spanner but no electrician, however, I know its a tvr but disconnecting 3 switches then reconnecting them in essence having done this several times previously over 16 years, this really doesnt make sense.

Has anyone come across this before or make a suggestion for those of you with electrical know how?

I would guess the weird behaviour is because you have reconnected something backwards so it is back feeding other circuits.

If stuff stopped working prior to this, I suggest you check for blown fuses.

Assuming you are correct in that all connectors are back where they started, as a first step I'd suggest removing all again and reconnecting one at a time to find the circuit causing the issue.

are the electric window switches illuminated with the light circuit, or have the provision to be so. Reading your comments it would suggest that the switch is on when the light circuit is on and this would now be your switched positive power switch.

From memory there were only a few connectors on the back, so take a few pics or describe the colours and I am sure some one will be able to compare to working ones.

This doesn't sound like a problem. Sounds like it now has 'character'.
