And all in Flash [TM] (c) 666 Satan, Inc...
There's nothing wrong with Flash.
Depends on your definition of "wrong" though. It fits my definition of wrong for many reasons:
- binary format
- inflexible
- client dependent
- proprietary format
- often grossly overused and badly used
Snorky:
As an IT professional yourself you'll know that a web site cannot be constructed without content/assets (data, stills, motion picture). TVR had no asset library when I started. It did by the time I left.
You'll also know that web sites are complex IT projects, particularly when you need to start from scratch in every respect (one of the problems with 100% Flash sites).
Agreed, "Coming soon" stayed up for longer than perhaps it should. With hindsight the sections should have been deleted in their entirety while the new site was being developed. I guess it was a month from a beta version when I departed.

hear hear!!
it sucks of some style over content webdesign company.. 'hey we can do you a cool website, and since you clearly no nothing about the internet we will do it in what we think is the coolest way'.
total sh1te.
as neilsen would say.. give the punters content over style any day of the week.
Personally I make a point of not installing flash/shagwave. If that's the only website they've got, I shop somewhere else.
Got nowt against it 'enhancing the user experience', if by enhancing you mean boxes of flash crap in a standard web page (then I'm quite happy to have nothing in the box rather than some craphole advert/stupid game/etc/etc).
Typically flash only websites are for small companies taken in by the hype from said numpty webdesign companies.
Result, there cash gets them something dated the minute it goes live, and since it's proprietry they can't afford to update it at all or regularily.
