LOT NO. 440 - 1989 TVR TUSCAN. EX-COLIN BLOWER TUSCAN CHALLENGE CAR

Purchased in early 1990 by the well-established racing driver, engineer and team owner, the late Colin Blower, to compete in the inaugural season of the TVR Tuscan Challenge
Mixed results during the early season but managed a win at the final round at Oulton Park
Subsequently used as a body-off development car to assist Colin to prepare his race cars for the next couple of years culminating in a Championship win in 1992 and runner-up in 1993 and 1994
We understand that it had been through a full nut and bolt rebuild prior to its sale in 2008
Fitted with a Quaife Differential, Quaife Gearbox and original TVR-developed 4441cc Rover V8
Acquired by our vendor around 12 years ago, it has rarely been used since
Painted in its unusual hue to reflect an association with Royal Purple Oils
Road registered but still in full race spec and not road legal/no MOT
Could be prepared for the road but ideal for track days, hill climbs, sprints etc.

Estimate £35k to £40K. Ha ha! For a car that hasn't really run for 12 years! The ones that are currently raced with an AJPV8, with spares packages and new chassis fetch a price under £30K.

But they are not Colin Blowers car.
It’s great how people come and piss on every parade. Do you wanna buy it, unlikely so why bother.

One day some kid a 5th your age will find these cars and wonder why nobody cared and they will be worth fortunes once they are rare as rocking horse teeth so maybe your negativity will aide someone one day but not today eh!

As usual it’s worth what someone thinks it’s worth and that might not be the value some buyers might like but so what. Let the car sell then comment would be a rather more generous approach!
Why are you here!
You want to buy it don’t ya biggrin

Oh really, who bought one for less than 30 that didn't need bringing to spec/rebuilding in some way ?

No matter.....think I'll keep mine for a bit. wink

It didn't sell. I told you that it wouldn't. And for the person who told me - but it was Colin Blower's car. No one cared because it hadn't been his car, or even been driven for 12 years. The connection was too long ago.

A 1992 Cavalier GSI 2000 sold for £18,563 and a 1987 Sierra Cosworth for £103,500!

Interesting that the car was registered in 1980 yet the Tuscan challenge wasnt inaugurated until 1989. So this car was actually pre V8 Wedge, so curious to know the VIN history?

Odd one that, would have thought it was a typo tbh.
Shame the car didn't sell.

Details such as colour, engine size etc all look correct according to the DVLA details.

The engine cross braces first seen on the Chim / Griff Chassis are a direct result of the Tuscan chassis development which we know is based off the S chassis or so I read once so surely that should be 1990 as year of manufacture.

I’d be more inclined to push this car around ex racing drivers and the racing fraternity in general, I bet there are plenty of middle aged racers who would enjoy such a car in their portfolio but yes it’s expensive in such negative times but then a Cossie made 100k. Cars are about what you can get back financially not what you can get out of em which is why a crappy Cossie and Ford quite frankly have brainwashed the british public. Well Essex boys anyway.
Some bloke Possibly with gold teeth paying 100k for a Ford commute vehicle is irrelevant biggrin

If I was a bit richer I’d love a car like this and quite possibly the sort of trackday/ fun/ road car that can be shown off at old bloke car meetings, you know the sort of places where people might recognise the name wink but then I’m passionate about racing and old Colin Blower was that passion personified, he was one very fast driver. Brave man and entertained me hugely for years.

Exactly right.. Though in my opinion this car is wasted as a road car.. needs recomissioning and raced like all Tuscans :-)
