My vote for the best retort on Pistonheads this year. Crosspost from EV and alternative fuels forum (sorry I can't work out how to directly link to it).

I'm all right then.
I've got a diesel, an electric and a TVR.

What I don't have is a care as to what others try to tell me what I should be driving.

IMHO you don't have to have any car to be a 'pistonhead'. Some poor sods only enjoy motoring vicariously, eg wheelchair-bound, so count your blessings yes
But, as electric cars don't have pistons, their owners should all be banned forthwith blahbiglaugh

On that subject, what happened to BlackVanDyke?

On that note, I’ll come out officially and say I bought a Boxster. smile

Yes, if I wanted to know what other people thought about the cars I owned, I'd have asked.

And not an EV.

I care passionately about hydraulic brakes, on all forms of transport.
Pistons Matter.

In all honesty AndyPro made a fair point and Zespak didn't.

What am I missing?

How is an electric car not 'motoring'? It has a motor. It moves; You can drive it.

Sure, some don't like them, but some don't like diesel.

The original point was it's Pistonheads, not Motoring heads.

Engines have pistons, EVs don't have engines.

I don't like diesel either. I like older cars too, so this is why EVs aren't for me.

PH started as a TVR forum.

I know. I wasn't sure what that had to do with anything in this day and age.

Pistonheads not The TVR Owners Club.

The original quote said "These cars don't belong on a motoring website." They're cars; They clearly do belong, that's what I'm taking exception to. If we're being pedantic about it, we'll have to ban RX-7s and RX-8s then, too, as they don't have pistons.

Oh, and the three or four NSU RO80 owners who are still running on triangular power.

By the same token, I don't see how excluding electric vehicles from a motoring site with a forum that covers a multitude of non-motoring interests is particularly worthy of note, but there you go.

IIRC, Pistonheads started as Petrolheads, so that definitely excluded diesel and electricery. wink

Mechanics are what drive me even if you went right back to steam engines. A battery is soulless. EV's have no place on here imo. A duracell forum would be the place for them.
