500 HC cam replacement
Discussion
I have a car in (griff 500 hc) and needs a cam ..
Now ordinarily I would suggest going straight for the Stealth .. but I actually don't know how the stealth compares to the TVR HC cam ..
I know the stealth is a great upgrade in place of a std TVR cam .. but the HC already has a good cam in it so wondering what other people have chosen when going for a TVR HC cam alternative.
Customer obviously wants to retain the good drivability his car has at the moment, but if there's opportunity for more oomph but not at the expense of smoothness then all the better.
You would think that I would be able to work this out for myself, but the thing is I rarely see any two cars in the same spec .. they are usually all modified to some extent .. often with aftermarket ecus of course .. this is a std 500HC except for a larger airflow meter and I'm not sure which cam is best suited.
Is it the Stealth still that's king .. or does the TVR massive know of anything different/better ??

Changed the camshaft on my 390SE the other year to a Stealth. Engine is a John Eales original 3.9. Personally I think it's brilliant. Not too lumpy at low end, good range of power all the way through, revs like stink and max power still hadn't quite peaked at 5,900 rpm. 247 bhp for an original engine that hasn't as yet been rebuilt I thought was pretty good.

Powers reccomended their 885 cam when i needed a new one had their mbe ecu fitted as well so unfortunately i cant give you a comparison the original cam i new it was worn because the performance seemed to have droppped off a little mine feels so much better now smooth power all the way through the rev range
