Anyone know anything about steering racks???

I have a little play in one of the track rods. Tonight I removed the gator (sp?) and founs that there is a ball and cup joint. This is where the play is. Is it possible to adjust these, or my replacement parts? I know that the whole rack can be overhauled but I dont really want to take it out the car.

You'll probably find that the securing nut is staked or pinned to prevent it coming undone - in fact I've seen a rack where they were welded - presumably by some overhauling monkey... may be possible to drill out the pin and tighten the nut (then effect suitable locking technique - and I don't mean Loctite!).

I am sure you can just change the track rod. Does anyone know where the rod if from on a Cerbera?

THe part costs about £15 - just have it replaced..

Where did you get the bits? Are they common to another car, not just a Cerbera?
