Makes it look like a Merc SLK or TT cabrio - Griff drivers don''t run hair dressing joints !? ;-) Of course the only serious solution to this roll over worry is - buy a road Tuscan where its built in, or better still compromise the fresh air for a really safe drivers car - buy a Cerbera!

I still think TVR should make the race Tuscan V8 into a road car, complete with full cage... One day I'll have one...

um, good looks (?) or safety...take your pick. A proper roll-bar would be my preference anyday particuarly for that sort of money (which is all it cost me for my Rollcentre/Tower-View one). Any idea whether this is sold as a safety accessory or just a hair-dresser add-on?

Surely the purpose of 'hoop' style roll bars is to provide some roll-over protection whilst not compromising the 'open' feel of the car as much....a single bar across the back makes the car feel more enclosed. (IMHO). Certainly does on the road Tuscan as compared to my Chim (IMHO). Tuscan owners care to comment? Very few cars manage to make roll-over hoops look attractive....IMHO.

Tuscan is a fantastic looking car except that the roof doesn't come off - well not properly. I told PW so at Earle's Court when it was launched and he said TVr would never do another 'roadster' becasuse of saftey issues - a year later he launchde the tomara! Rich...

Rumour is that Peninsular will have a Griff with the new rollover hoops on display at Salon International... www.salon-international.com Edited by terminator on Friday 6th July 11:12

It has to be sold as a cosmetic item because it hasn't been tested (I don't think Peninsula are about to go roll their Griff to prove it!). It is mounted onto the chassis and is of decent material so there's little doubt it would prove a lot better than no protection at all.

2"CDS should be tough enough for most disasters but I don't see any fore/aft bracing, tall people might not be able to raise the head rests either, looks nice tho

I would reckon that if it was fully trimmed in leather to match the seats, it wouldn't look so Audi TT, Merc SLK etc. Rich...

Those rear hoops don't seem to have any rear stays - looks to me like they would fold flat if the car landed on them. The MSA have fairly comprehensive rules that competition spec roll bars have to comply with. Those rear hoops don't look like they comply with any of them and I guess they are mainly for looks. If you want real roll over protection I think it's worth looking at the Rollcenter/Tower View bar, which is used by various sprint competitors. Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

Will they affect insurance, when I fitted the cage to my mini my company cancelled the policy stating they wouldn’t cover them, they didn’t mind the engine with twice the power output. Obviously don’t like safer cars.

Are you all completely mad?!! It sounds like you are all expecting to roll your cars at any moment - am I some sort of pansy, 'cos I've never felt like I was going to roll my car. Is sensible driving not an option here? : Actually, dahlings, I reckon a nod to the market place won't do TVR any harm - might make them more popular with the mainstream - maybe then us long-suffering TVR-ites might get some build quality!! While I was having the car serviced last time I did see a goal post type bar with a detachable diagonal bar coming forward into a rose jointed bolt in the passenger footwell that they had fitted.
This can work, but I've also seen this done badly with the brace attached to the middle of the bar where it is relatively ineffective. It has got to be attached close to the uprights, otherwise it can't stop the bar twisting/folding. Better than nothing I suppose but it's so easy to make a really strong roll over bar so I don't understand why you would knowingly fit a weak one. The MSA tell you how they should be designed, it really isn't that hard to get it right if you stick with the conventional goal post with two rear stays. IMO a roll over bar is crucial safety equipment not a fashion statement. (If you feel differently feel free to disregard the above!) Cheers, Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

Ive seen 2 Griffs this month which were both stuffed at the back end, one of which suffered an impact backwards directly on the o/s/r wheel, when I saw the car the driver had been cut free..alive.(serious head/spinal)... the wheel had come through the shell pushing the corner chassis member into the car behind the driver, the wheel pushed the drivers seat a foot and a half into the dash....complete with wishbones... if your going to do the crash thing make sure its not backwards!!!!
