After replacing the front doors aperture / roof panel weatherstrip I found wet was making its way into the footwell over the top of the strip, as it runs horizontally along by the treadplate.. Disappointing, as the old strip didn't leak there and the replacement was from the official TVR shop.

It was apparent that the wet was running out of the screen header rail, getting onto the sealing face of the weatherstrip alongside the window frame and then making its way onto the wrong side of the seal.

First thing I tried was smoothing the relative step between the metal frame and the door shell. (Used some Blu tack as an experimental measure). This improved matters but didn't produce a full cure. I have finally succeeded after feeding a length of (6mm, I think) soft plastic tube into the hollow profile of the weatherstrip to increase the pressure on the sealing surface. This appears to have solved the problem without adversely affecting the closing of the door.. I didn't feed the plastic tube along the whole length of the weatherstrip, but fed it in at one of the small vent holes that are punched periodically into the hollow section.Picked up the tube at an aquatic centre.

Mike.

I'd had a similar thought to try and cure a leak, threading something inside te seal to give it a bit more substance.

You're motivated me to give it a go thumbup
