Hi people,
I’m sure there is a simple reason for my troubles but I am useless with technology..
I recently bought a rovergauge cable from g33, as I’m trying to get my freshly built engine to run properly, currently way rich at idle (great service and cable looks great btw)
I’ve used the included cd and followed the brilliant instructions and got as far as setting up the Usb cable/ port but when I try to open the rovergauge exe file it keeps throwing a fit and saying there’s something wrong with a dll file and won’t open??
I then tried to go onto the google site to download the file myself in the hopes that would fix it but weirdly my laptop is also refusing to open that webpage!. I fear my laptop is conspiring against me..
Any ideas how I can fix this? Please :-)

Have you read the information and downloaded the very latest software from the author? https://github.com/colinbourassa/rovergauge

I see in the history he has recently fixed a missing dll issue on Windows.

Thanks for your reply,
I did try to but for some reason my laptop won’t open the webpage so I can’t seem to download any other new rovergauge stuff into my laptop ..
I checked and I could open the GitHub page on my phone so I guess the site is fine, I think my laptop hates me!
I only ever use it for similar one Vw software. I’ll have to see if I can borrow a pc and download/ copy to disc from there

Try pulling the package back from my drop box if the dll is missing or possibly damaged . Just copy the entire RoverGauge folder onto your desktop and run RoverGauge from inside that folder .What is the name of the dll file? What version of windows are you running?

Thanks for that! I can’t recall which file the error was with now, I’ll gave to have a look again tonight and let you know. will try the drop box too.
I was all excited at the possibility of getting my engine to run well enough to finish running it in, I’m desperate to give it some welly and see how well it goes ☺️

The other thing to know is that the latest versions will not work on old operating systems (they are build with versions of QT that do not work on old systems). For instance, if your laptop/PC is running XP, IIRC, the last version that works is 0.8.8. I'm sure blitz has old versions and I have a few too somewhere.

If you're running an early windows version you will struggle with the later rovergauge issues I think. On my XP machine rovergauge 071 is the last version I can run.

Ah... that may be why then? My laptop runs XP..
Does that mean I need to beg/ borrow/ seek out an older version of rovergauge?
I hate technology

Yes. I have a few old versions I can send to try if you can supply an email address or location of a drop box.

Even better.

I run various versions of Linux on old hardware these days, which means you can build the latest rovergauge versions yourself. So I'm not absolutely sure which was the last version that worked for me on XP, but think it was 0.8.8. So suggest starting with that and if that doesn't work going to 0.7.1 that Joolz knows works.

Unfortunately you can't (well I can't!) change the email address associated with PH accounts and mine is long gone so emailing that address won't work I'm afraid.

Just to update you guys,
I downloaded 8.8 into a pc, burned to disc then put it onto my laptop desktop and....
It worked! I did have a bit of trouble getting a connection to the com port, plugging into a different usb slot cured that and I now have a red light flashing on the cable when I ‘connect’ so hopefully all sorted?!
I’ve actually wangled a client meeting next door to where my car is kept tomorrow so I’m going to sneak off and see what’s going on inside my 14cux brain!

Many thanks, I truly appreciate you taking the time to help me.
