My speed six 4.3 rebuild decided to let go in pretty spectacular fashion on the M74 after less than 2k miles 😫. Step in Alps Road Rescue and Elvanfoot Car & Truck Services who were brilliant. Arranged for the car to be transported home safely and gave me a lift (35 miles) to the hire car company so I could continue my holiday, back on the road in under 2 hours, brilliant service. OK the highlands isn’t quite the same in a Skoda but hats of to Alps and Elvanfoot Car & Truck Services.

Well, miss fire, loads of error codes and clouds of smoke from the exhausts. They needed their fog lights on behind me!

OH NO!
Who rebuilt it - one of the recognised builders?

Best of luck getting the engine sorted, hopefully under warranty.
Enjoy your holiday.

It is really nice to hear people posting positive experiences rather than complaining about poor service.

Cadbury's, Rowntrees or Fry's?

Yes rebuild done by one of the most respected players so under warranty and confident they will sort it. Engine is coming out so will update once I know what exactly went wrong but looks like starting all over again so we’ll probably miss quite a lot of the summer and have to run it in all over again. Never got a chance to find out what a 4.3 speed six feels like on full song, someone tell me it will be worth another wait.

Would be nice to understand the technical report or reasons for the failure, if you feel like sharing smile
