Anyone got any tips for me. I am considering getting a bonnet re spray on My Trev, and was hoping to have the scotchguard protection film put on at
a later date. This is because the advice i have been given is to wait at least 6 weeks after the re spray to have this done so it doesnt
damage the new paint. So in the meantime while i am waiting and also to get my car back from the painshop unscathed.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do to stop my car getting any chips or at least limit them
1. does anyone make bonnet bras for TVR's I have done a search and cannot find anything.
2. what is the film called that i am taking about professional name and approx how much will it cost to have it fitted.

Thanks everyone. smile

Bonnet bras can do quite a lot of damage to the paint long term, as they rub small particles of dust and grit against the paintwork with the movement of the car body. I definately wouldn't fit one on top of fresh soft paint.

Aim towards having PPF applied once the bonnet paint job has properly gassed out and hardened (I would give it about 12 weeks from painting personally, just to make sure no paint issues develop). Unsure on cost though.

They also do an excellent job of restricting the airflow if they use a mesh to cover the flow to the rad..it is quite hard to protectively cover the nose yet secure the bra properly. Experience taught me this.

Can confirm the above through personal experience, bought a Golf a few years back that had a bonnet bra fitted, first job was to take the ugly thing off, but it left a mark across the bonnet like someone had used wet and dry on it, and there was no way it could be polished out....

Edited to add, had a front end respray on beastie a few years back courtesy of Sportmotive, was just a bit carefull where I drove it (and how close to other vehicles) for a few weeks, luck would have also played a part but it remained unscathed for many months without any protection.... piccie to follow on day of collection...
