Currently stuck on a closed M25 due overturned wagon with a rapidly failing clutch. Hopefully a bit of left foot pumping once we finally get on the move will get me the 40 miles home frown

Original clutch just managed to crack 60k.
Not been a great week, had a blowout on the F-Pace on Monday so wallet is taking a bit of a battering.

Might be teaching you to suck eggs here but you tried taking it out of gear and releasing the clutch?

Getting in in gear was the problem, did work pumping the clutch for a while but only made it to the exit slip before it gave up and went flat to the floor. Now arguing with recovery company who say my policy is not active in their system despite their customer portal website saying it is.

Finally managed to get the recovery booked, apparently the contact number for recovery on their website isn’t the correct one, they’ve changed call centre agents.....

Just take comfort from the fact this will likely be just a hydraulic leak either at the master or better still the slave.

Whilst you wait check for fluid running down the clutch pedal or in the carpet.

Got it safely on the low loader after a 3 hour wait. Could be the slave as there was some weeping noticed at the service a month ago but as the clutch has got 60k on it I might as well get the whole lot done at the same time. Just the additional expense of the lightweight flywheel to ponder. Been an expensive week with £700 on tyres for the Jag too....and it’s only Wednesday rolleyes

With 60k on the clutch my money’s on broken fingers. The symptoms are similar to hydraulic failure. Good luck!

Yup, probably that. I drove mine all the way home from Bicester Sunday scramble. A34, M4, judge the lights....

Reminds me of a trip to uni I made once in my cavalier mk1 (Loughborough from Woking). The clutch cable snapped as I selected 4th/top gear on the slip road onto the M25. I figured I didn’t need to change gear so carried on. Came off M1 J23, over a few roundabouts, through the campus (complete with massive speed humps), a few T junctions and came to a stop in the car park where I forced it to stall.

I used the starter motor to climb a small bank where I laid in the January slush to change it. Happy days smile

Rob's over the bonnet pic reminds me of one on here a while ago comparing the Tuscan's glorious bonnet curves to those of a reclining bikini-clad abdomen... lick
I do wonder if that was the inspiration, it would actually be a better story than the dog bite one!
Hope you get sorted soon, Rob.

Mine let go in good Friday holiday traffic in the Ormskirk one way system.

I had a cable go in a Renault 5GTTurbo years back which I managed to drive back home from central Manchester. I wasn't so fortunate this time, resulting in expense of recovery truck. frown

£2,017 later, all now back on the road with the clutch pedal feeling more like one than a brake pedal.

It did confirm the clutch was the original from 2003 and despite the 60k it actually wasn't all that worn and all fingers were intact. Slave was pretty done for though. Lightweight flywheel was worth doing at the same time, more responsive spin-up and no shenanigans at setting off, don't know why TVR didn't fit them at build.
