I came across this one that looked interesting. Anyone know anything about this one or anyone on here selling it?

I keep a look out on the bay of E at TVRs etc, so I know it reached £13,544 the first time, ending on April 12th, without reaching its reserve price.

It did indeed. Very interesting. Bearing in mind the seller is looking for £25k for it the market is not quite agreeing so far at the moment.

Interesting also that the highest bidder then was a zero rated new member.

What do you think it is worth?

This one was relisted again and went to £15545 this time. Still some way short of the sellers original asking price of £24500.

Anyone have any thoughts about what they think this one is worth?

Or anyone know the car or anything about it?

I sold my turbo Chim last year. It was a full Powers engine rebuild and their own turbo conversion, alloy rad etc. Car had done 55,000 in total. Paintwork was good but not concours. Likewise the interior.
At this time there were a couple of others selling their turbo cars priced at £24,000 or close to that figure. One seller removed his as there was no interest at the time. This is a very specialised and limited market and 350bhp from a 4.6 seems conservative to me. My 4.0 had 355bhp at the wheels and well over 500ft/lbs of torque.
There is no mention of the chassis or outriggers in the advert and that really is the first place to start. Next for me would be the gearbox and the diff with the mileage and now the extra power and torque. It looks okay in the pics but photos do flatter paintwork so a visit is essential. From the pics, the rocker covers need painting or polishing to match the rest and stainless bolts in the plenum chamber (just being anal, I know).
Price? I personally wouldn't pay more than £18-20k and that's only with the outriggers done, gearbox refurb and diff rebuilt. Remember when you come to sell, there wont be many buyers.

Thanks for that info and opinion....very helpful and useful.

I expect the chassis and outriggers will need some work as no mention normally means they are not perfect or not been replaced recently. Mine were done on my current Chimaera just before I bought it from Ian @ Sportmotive.

I noticed the rocker covers as well and ready into that a little....maybe too much. If I were doing a 4.5>4.6 rebuild and spending a fair few quid would you not have had the covers refurb'd and powder coated a nice finished colour? I would have done the plenum cover as well as it makes so much difference IMHO. The rest of the bay looks nice.

One thing you’d expect in this cars favour is Powers rebuild and Mbe should be fairly bullet proof and reliable.

The detailing is very poor for what must have cost nigh on 10k but that’s not hard or expensive to sort out, bust engines cost a lot more so you’d expect this car to run sweet as it must have come with a warranty for all the work!

No I didn’t, a bit like the previous owner of that Chim, I’ve spent a lot on my Tam so selling it is proving extremely difficult!

Got some further info about this one yesterday. Not sure about this one now. Seems it is a customer car on Sale or Return. Which is fair enough and not uncommon bu tnot all that clear in the ad. Now confused as to whether it is a trade sale with a warranty or a private sale with the owner. It is being listed by a dealer but a private sale with no warranty. Also no part exchange or deal facilities. I'm confused.

I just wish things were clearer and easier. You always seem to be digging and asking for information more than I believe you should. Just put all the info out there.

When I initially enquired about the car I was told it was £24500. now after two ebay listings in that it hasn;t achieved more than £15500 it has dropped to £18250:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-Chimaera-450-Turbo-...

Either someone thought the market was stronger than it was or the car was better than it is. Not sure which. Maybe a bit of both.

Always winds me up a bit when someone says it is £24500 then the price drops by over £6k.

Its a private sale so buyer beware. I'm sure we are all guilty of thinking our cars are worth more than they really are, especially if you have just spent a fortune on it.
If its dropped by £6k then someone is clearly wanting to shift it.
