where a bouts will you be and I'll point you in some directions. I have some on google maps which will give turn by turn

Northumberland is probably the most varied county as far as roads and scenery.

you also have the choice of the 2 local TVR meets, Teesside (at the Parkmore on Yarm Rd Stockton) and Tyneside (at the Weatsheaf near the airport) and typically they both meet before lunch on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

from Durham go to Crook (A690) then the whole of County Durham opens up smiledriving
could then go: Eggleston, Middleton in Teesdale, (High Force is good following a rainy period), Alston

from Alston could go back to Durham on the A689
or northeast up the A686 (Langley Castle for coffee?) and southeast B6295 to Allenheads then Rookhope and A689 Durham.

A little further north

From Durham A689 to Stanhope then north to Edmundbyers, Blanchland, Hexham then A69 to Greenhead and east on the Military Road (B6318) Hadrians Wall including the photogenic Sycamore Gap and return to Durham via the A68.

Proper Northumberland

A68 to the Military Road then B6320 through Wark, Bellingham, C200 to Keilder.
return from Keilder then Otterburn and back to Durham on the A68

Eastern Northumberland

A167 and A1 passed Newcastle to the A686 (Newcastle Airport) and on to the B6341 (before Otterburn) through Elsdon, Rothbury, then left onto the A697 to Wooler, B6525 and B6353 to Holy Island (only reachable if the tidal conditions allow) then south on A1 and B1342 (Coastal Scenic Route) to Bamburgh, Seahouses, to Alnmouth. Warkworth, then go right back to the A1 and return to Durham

Those routes will show the diversity of North Durham and Northumberland - you may wish to return to leasurly enjoy attractions seen on the routes.

Hope these help biggrin
