When I took my four year old Chimp wishbones in to my place of work to get the (seized) bushes pressed out they pissed themselves laughing at the sheer crapness of them. They are not "cheap" to replace either. Anything which costs a 3 figure sum is not cheap in my book.

Surprised? Build a nice quality spaceframe chassis, use some old and cheap paint and then drag into the yard. In a couple of years bring it back in, wipe it down and build into a car. Typical British workmanship!

Well, as I spent a couple of days scraping some of powder coating off the chassis rails etc. of my S1 before Hammeriting and Waxoyling the offending articles I was prompted to think from time to time 'why the **** didn't they galvanise the sodding chassis at the factory?' Odd thing is that the powder coating seems to somehow hide rusty areas, which mostly occur near the welds. cost, I suppose. Still love the car, tho'

Problem with powder coating is it hides aqnd cracks in the welds which can obviously be bloody dangerous
