Anybody insured with these guys? My broker has just advised me that they have gone bust! Liquidators will honour policies but will prioritise all 3rd party claims first. If I want to change my insurance, my broker has offered alternative cover(pro rata cost). Not too sure if I will get my ''unused'' premium back though. Be Aware!

Yes going in to recievership - situation is - Outstanding claims will be honored as so: 3rd party claims/losses 100% ie repairs to 3rd partys car Your losses/claim 90% ie repairs to your car. Check your insurance terms and conditions for 'pulling' out of contract. It may be written up that you cannot claim back any premiums already paid if you or 'them' decide to end the insurance cover.

Same here. My broker is transfering the policy to cornhill for the same cost pro rata. As I was paying by direct debit I'll just transfer the payments to them but I don't know where you stand on if you paid up front -- Mark

I was with these guys but cancelled my policy before they called in the liquidators(?) I've been promised some of the policy back but that was over a month ago and I'm still waiting!

vroom I'm in the same boat, paid up front, letter yesterday saying I had to return my certificate asap, and pay pro rata for the rest of the period. Not a happy chappy.

Had my letter yesterday, phoned classic line today and they'd closed the office to sort out the transfers etc. Managed to speak to them and they said they could arrange the alternative cover at a prorata cost, but said I might or might not get anything back from IIG as I'd paid up front. So we'll just have to see

ClassicLine are based in Hinkley, Leics. If anyone hasn't seen it yet the TVRCC website has an interesting ditty from Mannings on the subject of Independant's demise...

I work just down the road from Hinkley. I'm tempted to nip in at lunch and have a word. What worries me is do I change now and surrender existing certificate and hope to get some money back or wait and see what happens? Only prob is I want to use my car NOW and to not have the worry that I am only covered effectively 3rd party...... What do you reckon? Nick.

Nick - they sound pretty snowed under at the moment. If I hadn't already cancelled I would have held on to the cover - looks like you get 90% of any claim if you are unlucky enough to have an accident - get out and drive it!
