Chimaera fuel / starting problem
Discussion
Hi 1999 chimeara had a flat battery put the charger on tried to start after a while alarm not locking or unlocking properly so popped a new battery on and alarm fine but she's not starting no sound from fuel pump
Checked pump fuse 20 amp seems ok
Inertia switch behind dash seems in so that seems ok so what next
Is their another fuse where
Is the inertia switch had it or a fuse for that
Relay for pump where and what do I get to replace it
Ecu I hope not
Something else compleatly
Ignition lights all on turn key press button key fob but no sound from the buzzer thin ( fuel pump)
First break down in 14 years help and id ears please thanks Ron

Search in Chimaera section for - "not starting"
I'd hazard a guess that fuel and/or ecu relays are fubar'd.
Look in 'nest' of wiring pass. foot-well. Identify 2 off metal clad relays on flying leads - 1 on a black base, the other on a blue base. They are inter-dependant.
When you switch on you should hear/feel both "click".

You should hear two relays click closed together (main and fuel pump) in the passenger foot well when you first turn on the ignition. This shows the ECU has power. If you dont start, one relay should drop out after a few seconds (fuel pump relay), but the other remains closed until you turn the ignition off again. I dont know how the imobiliser is wired in, but you should hear something going on, even if the fuel pump relay is fubar'ed. Its worth noting that the main relay feeds the fuel pump relay so if that fails it will kill both relays, but as they are the same pin outs you can swap them around and see if the fault changes.

In the wiring for my Chim, which is likely common to others, the relays are not interdependent. Both have permanent, not ignition switched, supplies and from different fuses. They are each separately switched by the ECU.
In the case of the fuel relay the output passes…relay, Immobiliser, Inertia Switch, Pump, Earth.

Hi - I’ve just suffered a very similar issue. Garage thinks may be immobiliser not resetting correctly after battery died. Did you resolve this problem as keen to know what the solution was? Dash comes on but no fuel pump wirr or starter motor turning. Thanks
Hi DavidYou mention the 'garage thinks' so from that I am guessing you are not the hands on type.
If you are then we can give advice on what and where to test.
If not then let us know where you live so we can point you at a TVR specialist garage local to you.
As you can see from this thread the OP never replied so we don't know what the outcome was.
