Chaps...what is the best polish/wax to use in your experience for an incredible shine and that ''bobble'' effect in the wet? Also any car care tips, etc.

I use the Auto Glym stuff: Bodywork shampoo, Fast glass, Tar & adhesive remover, High resin polish, & Leather cleaner. Oh, and Rain-X of course. The only car care stuff I go for, is two buckets & 2 sponges...one for the wheels & one for the bodywork. That way you won't scrub any grit into the bodywork. Patrick. Whats rain x then ??? Rain-x is useful if your wipers aren't that effective (mine !) Clean the windscreen, then apply a coating of Rain-X. It provides a much clearer & therefore safer screen when it rains (the rain drops just roll off the windscreen) You can also get Rain-X screenwash additive, which I've also got, V handy as you get a fresh coating of rain-X every time you clean the screen. Absolutely, I belive Halfords do their own version of Rain-X, which is a bit cheaper aswell.

Sounds good.. and after washing you just apply it to the windscreen.? Yup, it's that easy. I re-apply it every month. Works well on mirrors & sidewindows, but I haven't tried it on the plastic rear screen. Just in case it turns it opaque. Patrick.

I used to use it on the rear screen of my Chimaera all the time, no opaqueness (SP?) and made the rear easier to see out of in the rain ================ Graham and Rosie

Graham, Have you tried it on the Tuscan rear screen yet? By the way the sports exhaust conversion from your friends is awesome. Extra growl when accelerating, bit louder on idle but on the overrun ... pops and crackles galore! Jarrett

Err, can't remember.....I don't think so, but if I did I would try a small section in a corner first and leave it a week or so in the sunshine just to see if there is any discolouring I am pretty sure I did the front screen, the sides and the mirrors, not sure why I would have left out the rear unless I was worried...so I probably did it Glad you like the exhaust from Walldonway (call Paul Wood on 01732 841021) and they do a 1 day turn around by courier - oh but you know that Anyway, get out there and drive your car before you go abroad and miss it like hell (voice of experience there ) ================ Graham and Rosie

The Walldonway mod is indeed for the Tuscan, they basically take off the rear cans, fit a sleeve inside the can and then put them back on. The sleeve is screwed in place and so can be removed and replaced easily for those track days where the noise limits are low - not done any yet, but nice to know I have the option! It sounds great, especially with the roof and rear screen off! With them in place the noise is drowned out a bit, which is good for long journeys and you can get the noise if youwant by opening the windows - or stopping and removing the roof and screen as you should Cost is around 100GBP plus VAT I think, call Paul Wood on 01732 841021 to confirm and also to see when they can fit you in. ================ Graham and Rosie

Gave the car a good seeing to over the weekend - had bought a can of Grrrooom from Halfords. Noticed that a fair amount of magnolia colour was left on the cloth (all leather interior, no ambla). On the assumption that the leather dye might only have nine lives - caution is required - must get a weaker cleaner. At least if it fades it's not that much different than the colour of its dye - has anyone with dark hides found this a problem yet?
