It's the oil gauge pressure feed on a Cerbera - it looks like 5/16 to me but I don't know if it is BSP, UNF or NTP...if any of these.

Can anyone verify the correct size and thread from the pics below?

Thanks,

Edited to provide some accuracy...

I had a good read about measuring pipe last night...

I was doing it wrong. For a male thread you measure the outside diameter and then take of 1/4. So that looks like 6/16 take off 1/4 is 2/16 or 1/8.

Also, it doesn't look like NTP as it isn't tapered. To me it looks more like BSP than UNF as UNF (on the pics I have looked at) looks more spikey.

So - I am going for 1/8 BSP. I will order my gauge and let you know if it was right.

Hi Tim

Still making progress then!! I would by a tap and die kit with a gauge for measuring they are fairly cheap and always handy in any restoration.

Hi Ian,

I am still making progress. I had a few weeks off it after putting my back out and taking a holiday but now I am back to working on it as much as I can.

After what seems like a lifetime scraping off waxoyl and powdercoat from the rear third of the chassis I decided to tackle some other jobs. The oil pressure gauge is one of them and I want to confirm the gauge is faulty before removing it and sending it for repair. The oil/water gauge on Cerberas are buggers. The water is from a fixed capillary tube sensor than runs to the form the back of the gauge to one of the water pipers in front of the engine. I really don't want to remove the gauge unless I have too.
