Cheap Cats...worth it?

Just bought 2 cheap ones at £64 each online so if manifolds come this week, then I'll know how good/bad they are.
Suspect for occasional use i.e. MoTs then probably ok but for permanent use I would be doubtful they will last. But, you never know.
Hi Iain, could you let me know which online site you got your cats from.Suspect for occasional use i.e. MoTs then probably ok but for permanent use I would be doubtful they will last. But, you never know.
Regards Ken.
We tried cheap ones 3 years ago for the Tuscan S.
All started, that the cats didn´t fit although we delivered the measures.
The first cat started to dissolve immediately. Already after 50 miles the Tuscan was very low on power, because the dissolving cats blocked the exhaust system.
We were very glad that no harm was done to the engine.

Got a set of TVR Power Sport cats in the Workshop, will fit Tuscan S and Sagaris or any other TVR Speed Six big bore exhaust. They covered only about 1000 miles before the owner went for a LS conversion. They were bought at Power in May 2010 for a total of 845,98, got the invoice.
Open to offers.
All the best,
Björn.

I guess they are not 'Type approved' so officially not 'suitable' for newer cars if they were to check on the MOT.
The ones I got have a large sticker on them which states:Edited by shep1001 on Monday 9th September 19:01
"illegal to supply for type-approved vehicles first used on or after 1/3/01"
So okay for my old 1996 banger.

I've got a pair of cheapies from ebay that have got me through the last couple of MOTs. There were type approved versions available as well for about 30 quid more last time I looked.
I don't leave them in any longer than needed though as I wouldn't exactly describe the internals as robust.
