I'm going to check out some cars at The TVR Centre. Have read Steve Heaths book- including the bit about getting an AA inspection. He didn't make it very clear if he was suggesting this for a dealer or just private. I think I would feel like a bit of a Knob asking to arrange one of these as they are such a big dealer and might (justifiably?) say something like the above (maybe with a different accent). I intend of course to give any car Steves recommended once over myself.
What do you think?
The AA are an expensive option when it comes to TVRs. I had an inspection done by them when I bought my S4. Although it gave me peace of mind that nothing terminal was wrong with the car, they didn't have the specialist knowledge to justify the exhorbitant price.
Best bet is to ring one of the independent specialists and get them to go up and take a look. It'll be cheaper and they'll know exactly what to look for. No respectable dealer should object to an independent inspection.
AA Inspection, not worth the paper there written on.... Had a bet that they wouldn't notice a Griff with Sports exhaust and No Cats, they didn't of course. The only point they raised was how the thickness if the paint varied around the car..accident damage don't you know.. I informed them the thickness depended on how awake the sprayer was at the time....
