Petrol Stains on Hood

Just managed to spill petrol on the folding section of the hood when filling up. Any advice on how to remove the stains (and the smell)??

Don't really know, but I'd try some washing-up liquid with a toothbrush (as it's hydrocarbon/oil) and then a really good rinse off, followed by a re-proofing. All the 'light-ends' will have evaporated pretty quickly, so the staining will be the heavier components and additives.

It might be sensible to 'phone a local trimmers for advice - although they may try and flog you a new section. A valet company might be able to help as well - a number of them use a product called "Autosmart G-101" which is a very effective car cleaner. (You could Google Autosmart?)
