Due to take my T350 on track on Saturday for the first time and looking for any advice on making sure I don't damage the engine and things to check and do before I go on track. Done quite a few track days with the exige which was very straight forward but am concerned about the T350 and in particlar the engine.

what should I check before I go on and when on track what temperatures and oil pressures should I not exceed?

Will be putting on track day tyres on this week what pressures should I set them at?

Any other advice, or things I should be aware of? Thanks

Usual checks+

If standard pads on rear need at least 6mm+
Standard pads front 4mm+

DOT5 srf brake fluid worth it if your going for it all day

Use octane booster millers or silkolene pro-boost to safeguard engine from any detonation issues.

10 lap sessions (15-20mins) & cool down ideal, but get a feel for it: Done 80+ mins in sag ok

Unlikely to have any temperature issues with fluids, but usual warm up, also cooling down too.

Run tyres at approx 20psi cold rising to optimum 24psi. Any higher and you think your tyres have gone off, but probably gone over 26psi.

Make sure the oil level is topped up and don't use the hand brake after the session, leave the car in gear instead.

Okay, first track day with the t350 day was okay, was a fantastic day up at knockhill with a few other TVR on track. Unfortunately the brakes on the t350 weren't up to the job. Brakes were rumbling after 4-5 laps so need to upgrade fluid and pads at the very least. Any suggestions what to go for?

I've used Ferodo DS2500 pads and Motul RBF600 fluid on my track cars before and had no problems.

Just about to put them on the Tuscan. Suprised you had issues though to be honest, as the standard brakes in good condition should hold up to a bit more abuse than 4-5 laps!

I Agree with MrChips. Maybe a brake inspection is due. I also use Motul RBF600, but not for track days, for racing and had no issues at all. I can highly recommend Mintex F4R pads for the front and Mintex 1166 for the rears. They are a bit expensive but last for ages with fantastic cold and hot use results.

Oh yes, I also aim for hot tyre pressures on 26psi all round

Many thanks agreed thought the brakes would have lasted longer so just to check it wasn't just me I went out with an instructor and same thing happened again after 4-5 laps. Back into the puts and brakes were smoking badly.

Only ever lost brakes on a T car in Spain after about 10 laps playing with an LS engined Marcos. As others have sugessted, something not quite right. I would want to know where the smoke was coming from, standard pads will not do this after 4 or 5 laps at Knockhill - if all working as it should be and nothing binding on.

does not have to be to serious...could just be the brake/anti-noise? pasta on the back that vaporizes a bit due to getting to hot pads...it stops when most is gone biggrin if that was the case.

I use Motul RBF-660 wich can handle even more heat as the RBF-600
and I use DS3000
but my car is also a bit heavier biggrin

I hear brake pads etc from Performance Friction (say the 06 for track/straat) are very good too and give less dust and less noise.
