Euro trip 2012. who is best inc recovery back to blighty.

Title says it all really. Had intended to take out euro cover as part of my insurance renewal with Henderson-Taylor but they no longer offer it.Did a bit of a search and 'More Than' seemed the most competitive at £88 for 12 months. Any others recommended.

I'll be watching this as meant to be driving the tuscan over there. someone told me about a company called als or asl perhaps? he was unsure himself but said they had a good rep.

I think you are referring to ADAC, a German company. Cerb owner Touching Cloth has a policy with them, but has never needed to use it, but others have said they are very good (I think they are linked with Green Flag over here). I've always had cover via the AA. It was more expensive but due to have their Home Start Family policy, had been with them for a number of years they dropped the multi trip Euro cover to about £80 ( which, trust me, was good or a 10 yr old TVR ). Typically, or luckily, the only time in 5 years I've had trouble abroad I managed to nurse and cajole the Cerb onto the ferry (literally pushed it in with some mates) and got the AA to pick me up at Dover.

Yes i think it must have been adac, i remember he said something about green flag which i'm sure i've got with a nat west account so will check them out.

Funny you shoul mention natwest, I didn't have any Euro trips planned this year so didn't renew the AA policy. Now have 3 trips lined up and going to use the one with my NatWest acc

I have the same RAC broker direct too, but renewal this year won't be for £61.00 though.

Had my renewal notice through a couple of weeks ago due 9th march

Did some searching today and had a few quotes. Green flag and the AA similar around £80 but cover just for the 10 day trip.
Quoteline direct with cover through Axa Assistance want £59 for 12 months, for breakdown cover in the UK and Europe. I woudnt be surprised if you did need assistance with cover from Axa, it would probably be green flag that arrived to help.
Most others wanted more, but the cover included hotel accomadation, hire car, etc etc. I just want basic breakdown cover, with initially road side assistance and if the breakdown is terminal, recovery back to my home address.

You might check these people out Manning uk used them not sure if they still do.I was with them a few years back but because i have a Griff i didn,t need to use there services.

I used ALPS last year through Mannings for the Drive Espana Tour.

Chris71 also had the same policy and unfortuneatly he needed to use it - everything seemed to be handled very well, maybe he'll see this thread and provide details.

I've sang the praises of the ADAC for several years now.
First year was €83,- followed by €79,50 every year since.

2 weeks after joining, engine threw a shim on my Tuscan in Geremany and the ADAC shipped her back to the UK as was under warrantee. Free rental provided.
2 years later, again in Germany, broke down and they shipped her back to the UK for repairs. Free rental offered but not needed.
Last summer broke in Tulouse Southern France and again they shipped her back to the UK and supplied a free rental so that I could continue my holiday schedule in France and the UK.

They are very well organised, friendly and helpful.

In the UK on the only occasion I needed help, they contacted the AA who came out free.
10/10 from me.

Assuming they haven't banned you from ringing them again by now .................... where/who would you ring for assistance in the UK?

As I'm with Manning I'm going with their euro policy. Always read the small print as some only give you a free hire car while they access the possibility of a repair, then its a per day charge to keep the hire car.
