Right, the TVR quarter mile thing seems to have been raging up and down various threads for a long time now, particularly in the Chimaera forum. The protagonists know who they are, and so does the ring leader, whose name I can't mention (DBV8).

It seems that doing the quarter in under 12 seconds is a bit of a feat, and that the idea of a normally aspirated Chim doing it in 11.something is unheard of, and maybe even laughable. Naturally, for the sake of a bit of banter, I've suggested that me and beastie could do it. Naturally, I've been laughed at, shot down in flames, castigated, and nearly cast out.

So here's the thing, I've never done this quarter mile thingy, but my personal engine builder wink tells me beastie is capable of doing sub 12's (tho not necessarily with me behind the wheel) Determined to prove them all wrong, (apart from Rob's comments about beastie) I have decided to not only do the quarter mile, but, If I fail in my attempt to achieve a sub 12 second time, to donate £100 to the charity of choice of the person who guesses nearest to my actual time.

The flip side is this: If I do a sub 12, then everyone who's posted a 12 or over has to donate £10 to a charity of my choosing (no, not the Sagaris fund).

Any takers ?

Please make cheque's payable to Team Beastie biggrin

ETA: team beastie would welcome support and suggestions from anyone who knows anything about this quarter mile racing stuff

Good shout and I am in.

I need to know more details in order to make a guess.

An unofficial estimate for now would be 12.4 @ 115

bhp.......... Currently 355 or a bit more (at circa 6000rpm, will change after mods are done and RR remap, hoping nearer 370) whistle
torque......... Currently 334 and same comments as above wink (might even try different cam)
tyres.......... Dunno, open to suggestions...scratchchin
gear ratios (if different), Not planning on changing from standard smile
any little others like linelocks etc.......... What are linelocks?

Possibly some suspension mods as well but TBC.....

Neal, not funny mate, this is a serious charity fund raising event. But if you wanna take the pi* bring it on biggrin

If we fail, we fail... but we're gonna have a damn good go at it smile

number 2 = better pants time
number 3 run = pressure really on now I need that eleven..stall...st lol

Just seems appropriate sort of thing to me. Kids love fast noisy cars. You like things with wheels.

Munter that's perfect mate, my girlfriend spent her early teens in a wheelchair so it's especially spot on...

And just to clarify... Neal... original bet was for a tenner with you and Derek (which still stands). As this is going to a charity I claim the right to have a whole weekend to do it in wink
