Cleaning spider alloys

When washing the car/cleaning the wheels I find it hard to resist the urge to clean the inner part of the wheel, accessible through the spokes. It's hard to get the bit of wheel around the brake calipers though. Can anyone suggest a good implement for this (I was thinking dish washing brush, but that won't completely fit either).

Did this two weeks ago- get'em off & do it properly.
Looks stunning when you refit them. Remember to wax the inside of the wheels too, helps prevent buildup of crap.

Just roll the car back a foot or two............

I use a cheap wheel brush from Halfords which is ideal for slipping in between the caliper and wheel.

I'm with rods on this one. Why make life any harder than it is already ??? Just move the car, loadsa room then.

I always clean them all the way through (18s) and just use a sponge. And clean the backs of the spokes too! no skimping and doing a half job!.

Get yourself some vinyl gloves from screwfix.com (cheap as chips for a box of 100s). They are like disposable latex gloves but a lot tougher.

These are great to keep in the garage for jobs like these.

Basically without them I rip the back of my hands to bits on the brake discs, etc and end up trying to wash as much blood as dirt of the things.

With them on, it's no problems.

Also, when clean, put some Halfords alloys protecting wax on them. They will be much easier to clean the next time (warm water and car wash only). You should never need to use a horrible brush or acidic alloy cleaner. keeps em tip top for years.
