After Thunder in the Tunnels on Sunday my Tuscan left on the back of the AA truck as the clutch had given up the ghost.
No warning and good pedal pressure, so it wasn't the usual candidate of the slave cylinder, it appears the clutch itself just failed.
Well the AA arrived within 15 minutes (just enough time for a fry up at the Ace!) and then despite expecting it to be 2 hours for a flat bed recovery truck, one arrived within 30 minutes. The patrol man also told me I had AA Breakdown and Repair cover - something I must have taken out on a Quidco offer. I then sent the car to Str8six without me and I got a lift to the tube.
Jason has just emailed to tell me that the slave cylinder is the new type so doesn't need replacing, the car is all back together and ready for collection and to top it all he's spoken to the AA and they have paid £475 towards the cost (£500 -£25 excess)

The long and the short of it are you need to breakdown! and then call the AA AND the AA are not able to repair it at the side of the road. So if it is something they can get a spare for then you have to follow that route and pay them to fit it. If it's something big like a clutch / engine rebuild then you are quids in.
Take out AA cover through Quidco and it costs less than normal cover anyway.
Every dealing I've had with the AA has been good to excellent, this is no different. Str8six contacted them and they paid £475 without even speaking to me!! Great service.
