Famous digital artist Laurence Gartel has just launched 13 TVR inspired pictures...(followed by some marketing department idiocy)
Firstly, fk fame! Fame means nothing to art.
Seconly, I beg to differ, I saw nothing inspired. Perhaps you meant insipid. Mr. Gartel may be the father of this style, but by now, he's been surpassed by his offspring many times over. Art is in the concept, and there ought to be something fresh in it, evolutionary, even revolutionary. I don't see those traits in these images. Art should say more than "send self addressed, stamped envelope, along with £XXX, to Laurence Gartel at..." Maybe that's what evolved from his collaboration with Andy Warhol. Is it possible, that Mr. Gartel's art, like Mr. Warhol's is in the concept of raping the "art world" and its partons?

Have fun with the trite tripe,
B.

P.S. All of the above is just the opinion of someone who knows nothing, of course. If it makes anyone cry, I'll delete it. Simply ask. I may make you beg.

P.P.S. How does one do essentially the same st for thirty years, and still have the fking audacity to call it art? Call it fking velvet Elvis. Asshats.

Last time I saw images like that was when I dropped my lap top and the screen went a bit "funny". I wonder if he'll sell any.

'Art' has been and always will be the same, beauty is in the eye and all that crap. A lot of the arty farty types, are like sheep, someone says it's art and others follow saying "wow, isn't that wonderfull". You know, like that pile of bricks that was in the Tate Modern, A PILE OF BRICKS, FFS.

But come on, these are just pure crap that a 5 year old could have done. I would be quite offensive if some artistic type had offered to do some pictures of my car and come up with that and then asked for money for doing so

If art is in the eye of the beholder, I feel like I have had a hot stick poked in mine.

Perhaps they are better viewed after dropping some acid ? hippy

This has got to be a joke. They are photos with a few crappy photoshop filters placed over the top (or at least look that way). I struggle to see any contemporary artistic merit.

And I'm someone who can regularly be found scratching my beard and talking bks while stood around a pile of bricks in a gallery!

Art? Really? I'd say almost any photo someone has put up on here of their car printed large on glossy paper would be more palletable than that nonsense. Give a monkey a TVR picture and photoshop and I'm sure you could achieve a similar result.

This must be a windup ... someone`s obviously sat a chimp with a blindfold in front of a computer armed with Photo Shop and this is the result .. yes that`s it !!

There's definitely a UK car in there I recognise some of those shots, I've seen them somewhere on the internet - on here? Has the artist just taken low res shots found on the internet and applied an 'artistic' effect?

I found the images challenged and questioned my preconceptions; the existential aesthetic of the organic form of the car. Ah, fk it...

They're a load of complete bks, created by loading a low-res VGA image of a TVR onto a 1992-vintage Amiga, pouring lager into the computer until it crashes, then photographing the resulting screen image.

Pretentious wk.
