TVR number made spreadsheet
Discussion
I remember than on here many times in the past, someone posted up a spreadsheet that showed over recent years how many TVR's had been made in any given year etc... I know a lot of people said it was inaccurate etc, but it's a good starting point.
Anyway been searching and can't find. Can anyone please point me in the right direction.
Cheers

More figures here
There are no 'official' figures. It would appear that none were kept as such. Why this was is not known. Some figures are difficult to define, such as the Challenge cars.
Further there are the cars that have been produced since manufacturing stopped, so to speak.

This is key. The guy that produced it may not have wanted to show an authentic record...
Apparently, since there ARE the 9012 or so TVRs produced before 1992... which may have been not relevant to his task at the time.
It seems likely, to me, that Mr. Smith's figures are the most thoroughly researched available for the later cars. And the Graham Robson histories for the early cars through the early Wedges at least have the benefit of being collected from contemporary sources. Excellent reading also.

All these spreadsheets do give us a "ballpark" idea of how many cars were produced/built by TVR but like many have said before "PROPER records were not kept. Since there are people who drive on the RIGHT side of the road also, it would be nice to see a spreadsheet that gives us a better idea on how many cars might have been built that were LHD. One province in Canada has outlawed the importing of RHD cars and at this time the remaining provinces are talking about going down the same route. Driving a car/truck on the opposite side of the road that it was designed for is a challenge and makes you adjust your driving style. To me that means I can't use a cars full potential of performance or handling. At this time our family has 2 of the cars that the Canadian importer(John Wadman)converted to V8s in the 70s and I get a "TVR GRIN" just walking past them. Now if I could add a newer style LHD TVR to our stable of cars I would probably get a woody/stiffy just knowing how lucky I was to own such an animal.

All the best,

so even though this list may not be as accurate as it should/could be my 99 chim is a 500 so i'm wondering how many out of the 764 were 400, 430, 450 and 500.mind you from start to finish of the chim production no one seems able to give a correct answer.
All the best,
Björn.

As a warning this has been proved to be very inaccurate.
Sigh.... For those who missed the original context - these were sent directly to the New Zealand LTSA (our DVLA equivalent) by Ben Lang acting at the time as TVR's representative in response to their official request for model production volumes. Ben may have had to pull the numbers together from whatever sources he had available, and TVR wasn't known for it's accurate recordkeeping so take them with a grain of salt, but I've yet to see any PROOF of them being VERY inaccurate.V8TVR1978 said:

Fill yer boots.
Perhaps 'very' inaccurate was a strong word to use but definitely inaccurate. If you search back to late 2008 I think there was a lot of discussion about these numbers and a good number of the numbers where disputed by other senior TVR sources not least Mike Penny.
Irrelevant really as the numbers surviving will be significantly lower than any 'production numbers' however inflated.

Tony: I will send you an e-mail about the "Griff" Sherry bought me for my birthday (it got the boys in "TorontA's panties in a knot)and the info on Woodwork. Don't forget about the Bronte car show and the Canadian Importer of TVRs (John Wadman's)BBQ the weekend before Woodwork. There will be a Red Rose specked Cerb and a couple of Chims and probably 5 or 6 Griffs there this year. We will fly down for 4 or 5 days to "TorontA" but I won't be going to Woodwork this year. Will try to find time later this week to E-mail you.
