To all you super hard TVR fans, Yes TVR'S are a special and we love then more than any other car's. I love the sound, the looks, the hard core man's image, the uniqueness, basically TVR'S are cool full stop.
If however you ever wish to experience the com[plete opposite end of the scale as far as comfort, smoothness, elegance etc, etc they don't come much better than a low milage Jag XJ12 5.3 v12 Coupe.
This is a picture of my car a year ago, very sadly sold it like a complete pratt.
Good news is that I have now after of 6 months searching purchase another but a 4.2 straight six Coupe. Still a very, very nice car but not as elegant as the V12 5.3
I believe all TVR owners should at some stage experience these buetifull British machines.

Hmmm. On an opposite note, try a couple of hundred quid of mercedes 190e auto.
You will be amazed at what you get for your money.....
A mate and I did a trip around europe with 50 other guys (in their own cars) in a £150 of 190e and it never missed a beat, except when Andy refilled the oil and left the cap 'half on', squirting oil everywhere....

If we are going really retro (and I loved the SD1 in it's day). I'd have to say the Dolly Sprint. Much underrated car IMO and would leave most up market marques for dust. Just wish I had known then what I know now and stuck it in a garage somewhere rather than virtually give the thing away.

This was my Jag when i was 19 one of very few xj40's with no rust it was mint and on LPG at that time that was 45-50mpg cost equivalent.

IMHO the S1 XJ6 Jaguar was the most beautiful post-war saloon car produced in the UK. 
No wonder there was a waiting list of up to 2 years when they first saw the light of day in 1968.
I had a S1 in the mid-seventies, but this is my S2 in 1977/78, which I used for work, covering around 700 miles a week.
My friend had one of the Jag's contemporary rivals, a Mercedes 280SE, which in comparison was like driving a van...or to be more generous, a taxi.

Nooooooo, i had a sprint in 1985( aged 20), absolute shocking rust bucket albeit at the time still quite a quick car, in fact the only car to date that i have spun on the public highway.!!!!!fast forward to 2005 and i bought another, as my daily driver and reality sets in, what a really awful car it is indeed..

Sounds great, I love old jags and actually thought about an xjs before I bought my TVR but was put off by google story of single figure mpg. My boss had a new one (XJ12) in the seventies, and average was about 10-12mpg.
Later HSE models could sometimes reach the dizzy heights of 20mpg, driven steady.
Same sort of figures for the V12 XJS....couple of friends had those.
The reason I stopped using the Jags as daily drivers was the escalating price of fuel...when the monthly bill was easily exceeding my mortgage

Don't no that much about them but father in law just bought a mexico but i havn't had the chance to see it yet, good excuse for a hoon at the weekend i think
