Help My Griffith won't start

Hi,

I am at a complete loss on this one. I have only changed the battery and the engine turns over but will not start.

When I turn the key I usually hear a few noises such as the petrol pump being pressurised etc but now when I turn the key only silence but the engine turns over.

I am wondering what I could have done wrong - I may have touched the ECU on the positive terminal but I have tried another ECU and the same situation exists.

I would welcome any suggestions leading to a cure.

In teh first instance I'd suggest the immobiliser need resetting. Try disconnecting the +ive terminal on the battery for 10 seconds or so and then as you reconnect the terminal to the battery press the 'plipper' on your key fob to reset the immobiliser. IIRC it chirps several times if you've been successful.

If that doesn't work I'd suggest looking at replacing the two relays in the loom above the battery which power both the fuel pump and ECU.

you may have bump the fuel cut of switch , it sits in the footwell of mounted just above the battery , it has a black rubber cover over the switch part, you will need to push the center of it in ,you will hear it click if it has been knocked in to the of possition and if so you should here your fuel pump come on if you have your ignition on.

I am very very pleased the engine is working.

I really appreciated the suggestions -

I was trying to find the fuel cutoff switch above the battery but could not find one (My Griff is Dec 1992) but looking in and around the area for the fuel cutoff I did find a few connectors and it was one of these which was the problem.

So without your advise I would still be stuck.

Brilliant - I'd buy you all a pint if emails allowed it.
