Lost TVR virginity today.

By driving a Griffith 500 at the Prestwold Driving Centre this morning. What an absolutely glorious car, and everything I'd expected a TVR to be after dreaming for years at the thought of getting behind the wheel of one. In a nutshell, the endearing sense of fragility, huge noise, visceral acceleration and weight controls were the order of the day, and what a joy. The initial intention was to be driving a Tuscan, but that was broken. Funnily enough, that could be a stroke of good luck for me after consideration of selling the GTV for a Chimaera in the not too distant future. Today's experience has given me a great idea of what I need to expect if I do make that move, and if anything has made me even more determined to do it; they're very special cars.

Hopefully I'll be seeing more of these parts over the next year or so, but in the meantime, enjoy your TVRs you lucky lot.

To be fair I wouldn't swap our GTV for a chimp.
I do however own a rather ace Griff 500

I love hearing other peoples reviews of them.

I swapped a 156 for my Chimaera, do it, you know it makes sense!

The next experience to have is driving down a main street and kids shouting at you to rev the engine,
Chavs shouting "crap car mate" but with a smile on their faces thats gets bigger when you touch the throttle, old Ladys giving you the thumbs up etc etc.

I loved my Chimaera 400 and started planning on a 450 or 500 but in the end went for a Tuscan.
There are some great Chimaera's out there and at good prices.

There seem to be a fair few TVR owners on PH that have traded up from an Alfa... Natural progression, perhaps.

It was a griffith for me too but mine was a bit of a slapper! I never rang back.

I have a TVR and an Alfa (the TVR came first though )

I must have a thing for temperamental cars

An Alfa is an Italian TVR anyway isn't it?
