TVR Sagaris kicks ass at Donnington

Went to watch the Dutch GT race at Donnington today and you should have seen TeamHOLDEN go ! After a very difficult wet qualifying session, Andy started last of 32 but half a dozen laps later he was already up 6 or 7 places. More excellent driving by Andy and co-driver Darren Downing resulted in them sweeping past most of the field to finish a brilliant 10th.
Have to say it was really exciting stuff and just great to see a TVR catching and passing Moslers, Porsches, M3s etc most with much bigger budgets !!

Absolutely stunning result! Chatted to Andy briefly pre-race about the tricky conditions during qualifying so it's great to hear of this result. ( told you it would stay dry 
) Unfortunately could only watch the first 15 mins but saw it take at least 6 places by then.

BTW - Andy, your Mum was sat behind us in the stand. She was a nervous wreck when the Porsche exited the chicane sideways early on, she thought it was you ! Do you realise what you put her through ?

Thanks all. Another difficult day - this time because we arrived this morning to find the awning had collapsed under the weight of overnight torrential rain. Fortunately the car was undamaged - not so the awning. Most of the morning was spent dismantling the wreckage.
Onto the race - Darren made a great start and made it up to 5th, battling with the Moslers, Viper and GT1 Corvettes (at $1.2 million a pop). We knew from the previous day's lap times that hanging onto 10th would be difficult, but we managed 8th. Darren got down to a 1.09 and I was in the 1.10 - both quicker than the previous day.
There were some stunningly expensive cars on the grid, so this was a fabulous result for the team. Our rear damper set up is far from right, so more to come - but a great start to 2011! Thanks v much to those who came along to support - much appreciated!

Andy - great to meet you, darren, mum, dad, bob etc. and thanks for the beer.... couldn't believe it when I brought my girlie to watch the TVRs and to see the grid form with you on the last line... but then the racing starts and the driving by you and Darren was simply awesome and soooooooooooooooooooooooooo exciting...
Everybody in the stand knew who I was supporting that's for sure !
Get that set up sorted for future qualification that's all I can say !!
And keep posting on here to let us know when you're racing again and where...

We were hitting the bump stops on the dampers - something which didn't show itself testing round a flat Silverstone - and that didn't help our ability to put the power down at any time, let alone the wet! Still, starting from the back made the first race much more exciting!
