TVR Vixen S2 1969 WFD 400H
Discussion
Didn`t look a bad example really and plenty of specialised bits to make it more desirable..It reminded me of WFD when i first bought it back in 1980..Almost there and a goer but as usual a never ending list of things to do..
Rare car now and i have only seen another one way back parked up outside a property in Hornchurch.Essex..
Anyone on here have such an example?

Hello Keith ,
Some time ago i tried to find history receipts of the previous owner way back in pre 1980.
.Well glad to say that due to relocating items to my newish residence they emerged yesterday going through boxes of paper things..
Don`t think it is the total amount but most of them..
Can you forward your address so i can send them to you..
Tried to bring up your email address but it doesn`t respond..
My email address is david7molly@hotmail.co.uk for forwarding.

Even though i am penniless Keith you are welcome to them FOC
It is a pleasure to see it in that condition after last seeing it some 12 years ago in a dusty neglected rolling shell state in the council lock up garage
Thereon passed around the scene when i sold it as usual with these situations of heavily involved restoration.
You have 90% succeeded where again i and others have failed to complete the project.
.As at today`s state of affairs history repeats itself..at present
To think that the sale price i received kept Llewellyn Imp Motorsport going for another month back some 12 years then with my young Son`s karting activities...
Looking at these latest pictures it is as i was only sitting behind that dash together today with wires dangling down on my knees like that back in 1980ish when i used it..How could i leave it locked away off the road for 25 years after molesting it with attempted modifications is shameful.

It`s all like a dream come true Keith..Never ever thought i would see anything of it again..
Let alone all presented as in new condition...
You can give it back to me now..lol
I loved the seats from memory and the uphostery is as i remember it..
Cleaned up well considered how long it has been left in discarded state..
I think the orange and interior looks even better than i thought initially.
Originally the interior would have been black..Imagine that on a hot summers day!!
Afraid i don`t know the handbrake lock combination..Forgot all about it anyway but i think i didn`t use it because of the not known combination...
Be a nice period accessory all the same if you can install (?)..
Think i used an early Krooklok which now guards the Mk 1 Cortina...
i`m happy enough (thanks for asking) living in my local authority masionette.sharing it with the massive residue of artifacts from the business premises..
Hoping i can find something affordable to my state pension soon to carry on with the two competition Imps and Cortina before they deteriate under the pukka car covers in the drive before too long.

Very poor image of photo taken but an insight of my attempt to repaint the bonnet black..
If I remember right I transferred WFD from a council lock up in Elm Park Essex because of an ever increasing arson vandalism situation.
Moved to my front garden in Harold Hill..
Bonnet in back garden being admired by Prin the German Shepherd Dog.

Sorry have had technical difficulties replying..
The original engine as supplied by TVR was a 1600 cross flow with a semi combustion chamber head ( 1600e ?)..
I had that machined after I purchased that to a degree of modification and increased the block bore to 1660cc..I fitted a A2 camshaft if I remember right as well..
At about the same time I got hooked on a V8 conversion in mind but on research found that that was out of my realms of reality.
A Zodiac V6 with four speed overdrive gearbox turned up with an affordable price so I set my mind on converting to Tuscan specification..
That is what you see in the picture..
In hindsight it was a waste of time as the combined weight would have ruined the handling I feel. The Crossflow unit properly sorted with Twin Weber 40s and such like would be a proper all rounder..
This was confirmed by race people that I talked to at historic meetings with TVR Vixen / Tuscan..
That is why the Vixen became so sought after in historic sportscar racing..
The V8's are a different kettle of fish though with proper period engines I was told.

Yes that is my friend at the time Simon James helping it being moved on to the front garden.
My son James is in the foreground..
He is now 29 !
I do have another picture similar of WFD being taken from the council lock up on to Simons car trailer which I had found but since has disappeared again together with a cine film of when the TVR was actually working.
I am getting no joy of uploading pictures as my phone camera says no images available but the pictures are there in my gallery..
Same with trying to transfer to my lap top ..

No engine or gearbox just a rolling shell..
Cannot remember what happened to them..Obviously sold to someone..
Must find that cine film and send it to you for transforming to a DVD or something..The reel has footage i am sure when i drove it around in 1980..
Did you enquire to DVLA as to the former owners back to 1969?

Posted it this morning..
Do hope it has good footage for you. I have just realised that it was shot nearly forty years ago with a risky cine camera i bought from someone i knew..
Been such a long time since i last saw it on my late father`s projector ..My how things have changed now..
Vaguely i remember it was mostly if not all pictured in Brentwood, Essex where i lived temporary in shared accommodation..
Mixture of the Vixen ,Mason Stiletto Special Saloon and my beautiful Irish Setter..
Hope that you know of a good conversion dealer as i have had no good feelings around here and the cost was high..
How fortunate people are now today with phone cameras and such like to be able to record their events in such quality..
Our MSA Kart races since 2000 to 2009 have only still photographs to show for our success..
The reason i sold WFD was to help finance the continued success such was the amount of money i was throwing at the obsession..Even so no money to spare for a digital camera back then in the early days of the devices.
