3D Printed Door Caps and Other Rubber Bits
Discussion
I'm picking up a project Lee02 and myself started a few months back . Carrying on the work Lee did for his Tuscan Convertible A post rubber moulding and hopefully extending the range to cover more models . The process is expensive and time consuming , because you just can't scan a part and print it (if only you could ) . Scanning produces a 3D bit map , but this has to be smoothed by applying 3D splined surfaces and made into a geometric mathematical model before printing. That's the expensive bit that cost lee £250 for his part. I've got Griff,Chim,Tuscan 2/Convertible ,Tam/Sag/T350 B post caps and Chim targa bar caps . I haven't any Tam A post samples and I don't know about Cerbera bits.
This the reverse engineered .stl file from Lee
And his 3D TPU printed part
I'll update this thread as to progress (it won't be quick) , but I would like to gauge the interest in purchase of these items for lets say £30 / pair ??? (off the top of my head figure)

In order Chim Targa Bar, Tuscan 2/Convertible, Chim, Griff and the uni currently has a Sag one
I think Sag , Tamora and T350 share the same "B" frame part. (but I need to make sure .
The only "A" frame I have is the Tuscan Convertible and I guess the MK2 is the same
I don't know if the MK! is the same as a MK2 , but I guess not .. so yes I would need a sample. I hope using a mirror image would work between passenger and drivers side. I know TVR parts were moulded so theirs weren't the same , but all needed trimming to fit , because no two TVRs are the same .

I've made hard plastic ones for Sags/Tamora/Tuscan Mk1 and I think T350 (yet to find a T350 to check) and they fit perfectly. ... I'm waiting for softer material to try... but thinking about more options than just Black .... How about colour coded to your car or Silver, or hard plastic ..smooth with a Dremel and paint body colour yourself ? I thinking about £40 a pair for 'B' frames... 'A' frames only for Tuscan MK2/3/Convertibles at the moment but they would be more expensive say £60/pair... I need examples to copy/scan ... Chim and Griff scans are being done at this point in time, hopefully get them back next week.

I won't bother doing Chim and Griff ones in that case.

It may to surprise you to know that GREAT BRITAIN is still in Europe although continental drift is probably moving us away
And it would appear to me that the ACS pro web store is a direct crib from Dom Tricketts Power Performance website ... Including the sale of TVR Power Mugs ... which is very amusing since TVR Power had to change it's name because of trade mark infringements !!!!!

After a number of bad attempts with TPU , I think I've finally cracked it ... well pretty good ... I've done some nice Griff ones today.. they are smaller and not as weird a shape as the T350 ones... So tomorrow I'll make my first pair of T350 ones ..I'll post photos when I'm happy with the result. The way I'm doing them now takes 3 hours for each one , so an all day job. It reminds me of my friend John Melczeck (TVR Door maker) , I asked him , "How many doors do you make in a day ?" ..... The answer was " Two , of course , one in the morning and one in the afternoon" ... well my muckets are the same
Well here goes ... The one I printed on the left , the original (which I had to repair with glue) on the right (sorry got it wrong way round before the edit)
It's not a smooth glossy finish but a little textured not rough , but I think more robust yet flexible . I would expect people to replace both at the same time , so they would match ...hence I'll be providing them in pairs . Tell me what you think ?
I did these in 95A TPU , I have some 83A Flexible which I intend to try. 83A and 95A are Shore hardness measures ... 83 being softer but not as robust.

When these are ready to roll my order is as below, assuming one set does one door.
3 x Sagaris sets
3 x Tuscan sets
3 x Cerbera sets
Wow .... One set (pair) will do Drivers & Passenger door "B" caps only 3 x Sagaris sets
3 x Tuscan sets
3 x Cerbera sets
I have NO Cerbera spares , so I've been unable to scan and they look different to all other models.
I think Sag/T350/Tamora and Tuscan Mk1 all used the same cap , correct me if I'm wrong
Tuscan MK2 is different but I can do them , since same as the Tuscan Convertible ( Ahn ... I see from your profile you have MK2 , so I think you'll need my convertible one)
The only "A" frame sample I have is for Tuscan MK2/Convertible , but that has been scanned and is the 1st Photo on this thread page 1. I've not attempted to print an "A" frame yet .... It will probably take over 24 hours
PM sent

Made from black TPE 85A shore hardness, which is flexible but not as flexible as the TVR original, and not as shinny smooth .They would appear to adhere much better and are less likely to drop off.
