I recently got a ride in a Focus RS and it was immensly fast every bout of acceleration forced you in to your seat and to the extent that every gearchange causes you to be hurled forward to sum it up in one word amazing!

Not been in one of those yet. I'm waiting for the Focus Cosworth

Oh yeah - if you feel the inclination, attend a local RS Owners meeting and blag a ride in an Escort Cosworth. Any will do, but if possible a modified version (310bhp - 330bhp is common). They kick the absolute aRSe off the Focus

Julian, lets not forget that a 330bhp escort coss is 100bhp over standard,

There are now a few RS focii kicking out in the region of 280/290 bhp

I'm a massive fan of the old essy, and i'd probably sell the wife for a mint monte', but the focus is a match for it even with it's fwd configuration.

I remember when FMC's special vehicle team did a next gen escort cossy using the 2.9 cossy V6 driving the rear wheels only but then the focus came and killed it

Agreed a standard EsCos is pushed to beat the Focus, but most I've encountered have been molested in one way or another. Does the Focus RS give the same shove in the back as a big turbo Escort when it comes on boost? How on earth is 290bhp usable through the front wheels?

Have been meaning to get to my local RS meet to blag a passenger ride - can't bring myself to waste my local main dealers time

My Monte is staying factory-fresh btw!
well, it will be when I've got my hands on it and given it a complete overhaul...

The focus's power is delivered a little more refined manner than a big turbo Ecos. The EEC V system uses an infered gear startergy where by the power is reduced to approx 75% in 1st and 2nd to try and maximise traction.

I never said it was reliable power through the front wheels did i I believe one of the big bhp focii dropped the contents of it's MtX 75 transaxle on the start line recently

Reliabilty will soon be honed and the playing field will be pretty much even then.
