Hi, I have been trying to find out how many Escort Cosworth Motorsport's are left in existence. I have looked through the classifieds and they seem to be a rarity.

Thanks Rod.

You could contact the RS owners club, they should be able to provide you more info.

RS owners club don't recognise the motorsport version as not assembled in the factory or something daft grumpy

Better place for info would be......

This is all a bit new to me, so thank you for the replies fellas.
So is the motorsport not a good buy then, being as the rs club dont recognise it? I was under the impression they only made 2500 or something like that so thought it would be a good thing?.

You could always try and find a good monte, only this one in the classifieds on here just now.

I prefer the jewel violet to the green and it needs the proper wheels, just a thought as opposed to the motorsport editions.

The club not recognising it doesn't necessarily mean it's not a good buy....... but you will have to do your research on this matter if you don't want to get caught out frown

There was a big debate about the issue on the Escort Cossie site recently but i have to confess i didn't pay a lot of attention as mine is a factory Lux edition biggrin From what i recall it can be tricky to make the distinction between the motorsport edition and the standard edition as well as the fact some cars left the factory as trimmed shells known as 909 cars or something confused

As said...... for more clarity ask on the Escos site as i'm not too up on all that side of things frown

Just bought one badged as a "motorsport" it has all the tell tale signs no sunroof wind-up windows cloth hexagon recaro interior and the turbo cooler in the boot along with the t-3 turbo. I have been looking and cant find any "motorsports" for sale and would just like to clarify that its what it says on the tin. It seems to be all above board to me.

What do the PH resident's think ?

I know this is an old post but people that google Motorsport that come across this will get the wrong info due to lack of knowledge, There were 3 editions of the Escort Cosworth all available from the factory...Standard - Motorsport and Lux (also the Monte but not to confuse things) People that talk about 909 "motorsport shells" is a completely different thing, these were built up cars for various bits and pieces and usually a mix of Escort and Sierra 4x4.
whereas the facorty Motorsport was registered as an Escort Cosworth in the V5 and also had the correct chassis number these cars are recognised by the RSOC
