I can’t make my mind up if my daily barge is developing a problem, so I thought I’d post what appears to be the symptoms up here to see if any PHers can offer any advice

The first thing that I’ve noticed is that on a couple of occasions this week that the car seems to run on after I get off the gas – in other words with no throttle it will happily maintain it’s current speed (and RPM) – maybe for up to a minute, where I’ve got back on the gas or braked. This appears to happen between 2k and 3k RPM. It doesn’t appear to be related to constant driving at certain speeds

The second thing I’ve noticed is that after a 30 minute run along the motorway, the revs occasionally appear to be higher than normal at idle (say 200rpm more) when I pull up at the exit

The car is a Petrol V6, 2003. I’ve not mentioned what as at this stage I don’t want this to get moved

Both of these maybe simply my imagination, but with all the electronics used nowadays, it may be something that is common fault (say in a sensor) developing

Any ideas, tips or hints?

Coolant temperature sensor on the way out? That could send some funny readings to the ECU, making it think the engine is colder than it is and thus turn up the mix with the fuel/air?

Sounds like it could be similar to this issue, my Dad had it with his ST200 which I presume is essentially the same engine.
