Evening,
I've got a mate with a 16i who's seriously considering selling... apart from the obvious of popping an add in the classifieds, what do you reckon would be the best way to find "the right sort of buyer"...
Don' want to be bothered by tyre kickers, want buyers that know what they want!
Any ideas greatfully received..

The RS Owners Club has a website and a bi-monthly mag, reasonable quality - there is a fairly sizable classifieds section in there. Obviously a proper enthusiasts resource.

Original 7 spoke wheels are no longer made and are like the proverbial hens teeth.
They should have no letters or numbers cast into the outer surface of the wheels, thus giving a totally smooth surface. A great many of them have been replaced with RS accessory items which had the part number cast on the spoke area.
What colour is it?
The 16i was a great car in it's day and indeed a fantastic precursor to the XR3 series.
The alloy cam covers are sexeh!

It's one of 820 black ones..

The piccy in the top right is exactly the same as the 16i I'm talking about..

I've found some more info on the car and now have some piccies too...
It's all original, bar the wheels by the look of it (not the smooth spokes)
Here's some piccies (rather bad ones I must admit, taken this evening as it began to rain!)
Admittedly, the car has been lowered, by a small amount, but the original springs will be going back on..
The owner has ALL of the history of the car..

It never got the custom pack when new.......windy windows, pah, it's not an MG you know
Nice to see it still has the twin coils,even if the wheels are sadly aftermarket items (although, iirc the original wheels were discontinued in the late 80's)
While your m8 is putting the original coils on, tell him to lose the laxpower clear indicators and stick the amber ones back on, The Mk3 looked far better like that.
Hope he gets what he wants for it.
Couldn't possibly give an estimate on the basis of some photos m8, but to help get the very max £ from a sale, a stonking good clean always pays off.
Get the engine and bay spotless and maybe even paint a few of the rested bits like the starter motor etc.
Polish that gorgeous cam cover, then it'll say BUY ME to a potential owner.
Be sure to check the body condition, common areas were the battery tray, the floor around the seat mounts and the ends of the inner sills just before the rear tie bars.
She doesn't look a bad un though, so good luck with her sale
