StreetKa Boot problem
Discussion
Hello all, hope you may be able to help...
My babysitter has a StreetKa. The boot won't open when using the remote key fob button (although all other key fob buttons/ops work fine), but does open when you use the internal manual keyhole located inside the lockable rear storage cubby.
This makes me think it will be the electronic lock actuator that's knackered - do you agree? If so, is that easy to change and where is it located? If not, any other ideas?
Any advice/counsel is much appreciated!

Is the electronic catch in the boot lid?
If so check where the wire pass from the body of the car into the boot lid.
I suspect you will find a broken wire at or near to that point.
When that boot opens the wires flex and over time can snap.
I have seen this on a number of cars effecting boot releases and number plate lights.

Cheers for that - will check that first, although Im sure the catch is on the body side rather than the lid..If so check where the wire pass from the body of the car into the boot lid.

Hi
I just bought a 2003 Street Ka for my wife.
The boot wouldn't release with the remote on the key, only from the keyhole inside the box under the interior light.
The fault was with the interlock microswitch.
This is a small switch located next to the roof cover release solenoid, and prevents the boot opening if the roof flap is up. I think it wouldn't be a problem if you put a jumper across the switch and used your brain as its not really a safety problem, more to prevent the boot being scratched. This is in the centre of the car, inside the roof well, directly behind the interior light.
The solenoid assembly is held by two 10mm nuts, the two operating arms need to be unclipped and two electrical connectors unplugged.
The plastic pivot for the microswitch arm had broken off, and the arm was resting underneath. I drilled a 2mm hole through the backplate and used a split pin as a spindle for the arm. You could replace the switch with one from Maplins by drilling out the two retaining rivets.
Hope that helps someone.
