Ford fiesta mark V blowing hot air all the time
Discussion
Hi,
ive got a 2000 x reg 1.25 ghia fiesta and it runs fine the only problem is that the car keeps blowing hot air into the cabin even when the heater is off and the thermostat is turned to cold. I really don't know why this is and wanted to know if anyone could give me some helpful pointers before i take it to the mechanic!
thanks in advance!

i would think its the control valve that sits on the bulkhead very common fault. You can find it by looking at where the coolant pipes enter the car you will see it with 2 pipes in and out and a plug for the motor. They are cheap from a motor factors and can be changed in around half hour. Hth neil
Go to a Ford dealer and order part no. 1451981. When you get it, make sure the number printed on the unit starts '7N21'. This is the only fault-free (so far) heater control valve!
Don't be tempted with secondhand ones, especially as they're only £30 new. Anything else will start '98AA/B/C' and these are the ones that play up.

Make sure the cable at the control valve end is still attached! One of my mates had an Escort which he bought cheap because the previous owner couldn't get the heater working - the cable at the end of the hot/cold knob had come adrift under the dashboard on the cold setting!!
They're electric on the Fiesta so no worries there.I'd nearly bet money without even seeing it that it's the heater valve.
Hi there I also having a heating problem with my ford fiesta 2002 zetec car and I know for a fact it isn't anything to do with the motor heater valve I have bought 3 of them heater valves and got replaced and this is not the problem, I have also had a new thermostat replaced, plus also bought a new control panel and replaced this heating is still persistent there's no leaking water anywhere. Please note I do understand common faults are motor heater valves but not In my case I am unsure what's left to check now see this is what's happening I get up In The morning get in my car start the car cold comes through which is normal then drive the car for about 20 mins then with the heater control set to hot it heats up fine great turn it to cold goes cold then I think yes that's it fixed how wrong I could be after keeping it on cold setting when I come to a halt traffic lights etc etc hot air starts blowing through constantly I try turning the setting to hot again and cold still nothing still blowing hot and that's what I get for the rest of the day unless I stop the car turn engine off for a few hours then get back in the car and everything's fine again until after 20 mins of running the car. So far no one has had an answer for this I've took to mechanics it's got them stumped and myself I've even checked for blockages pipes, flaps , vents even had it flushed. So if anyone has had this problem before or have any other ideas on this please please let me know many thanks stu
